This painting was inspired by a pilgrimage to Fatima, Portugal. You can read about the story of Our Lady of Fatima on my blog published last May titled "The Miracle at Fatima." St. Lucia, one of the three children to whom the Virgin Mary appeared, lived in this house as a child. The peaceful simplicity of this room compelled me to paint it.
