This class will focus on what makes a still life painting successful and how light moves in the painting. The student will gain a better understanding of composition, temperature changes, color harmony, atmosphere, and the importance of lost and found edges. Unlike most other subjects, the still life offers the artist complete control over every aspect of the final painting. Unlimited choices of color, arrangement, texture and lighting of one's subject make still life one of the most popular genres. The day will begin with a short demonstration and I will describe my method, tools and approach to the subject. This class is suitable for all levels of experience.
