I Got This, Ma!

I hadn't planned on devoting much of these past two years on painting aviary art. Birds were never my "thing" and I never wanted to turn into an "old bird lady" or be labeled as such. But the glorious thing about living in Corpus Christi is it being an intersection of two major flyways during migration time and I have grown to love bird watching. I happened upon these cattle egrets just after hatching season when hundreds of babies were beginning to fledge... mowhawks and all. This is one of a series of wildlife paintings that will be in a new one-woman solo exhibition "The Natural World" in the Kuchera Gallery at the Art Center of Corpus Christi, Texas for the month of November 2013.
