This was the first pastel I did in this very loose style, and it has set me off on a journey of discovery.

What fun.. I tend to get very detailed when I do a portrait, this was pure discipline for me.

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years.
