"Soaring Dreams II" by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

"Soaring Dreams II" ©2020 Niki Gulley
textured oil painting on canvas • 34" x 34"

I love that feeling of staring up into the treetops and the heavens about, it instills that child-like wonder. That is what I hope my paintings bring to people. Here I used thick,  curving paint strokes adds to that joyful, playful feeling of hope and discovery. By choosing a palate of gold and red that contrast against a lavender-blue sky with gentle clouds drifting by and arranging  the aspens in a circular pattern to give you a sense of laying on the ground, surrounded by the forest. I have used diagonal leading lines with the tree trunks and limbs, so your eye gazes into the focal point where all of the elements come together.
