New "Planted Sunshine II" Contemporary Impressionistic Sunflower Field by Niki Gulley

10" x 20" textured mixed media painting on canvas panel

This sunflower field that I visited this summer was beautiful. Miles of bright, happy faces sharing their smiles with us and lifting our spirits. My heart literally swelled and I had to capture all of that golden joy on canvas. Just after sunrise, big, billowy clouds drift by on the horizon and are illuminated with color from the rising sun. Utilizing thick paint and palette knives to create broad, energetic strokes and not over blending my marks adds emotion and abstraction for the viewer to fill in their own story.
