Between the Lines
36 x 48  Oils on Canvas

This painting was a journey that started about five or six weeks ago. I have shared some on this blog, but not all!  It is finished. Starting a new painting today with too many ideas floating in my head!

I am known for my Painted Pony Pulls but only have done maybe four in the past five years. There are NO others like it that I know of. Thick rich buttery Holbein Oils and NO impasto to thicken them. The are deep and rich!

Yesterday and now Today

The church bulletin this past Sunday..."There are very few REAL emergencies."  and "If you are lucky, you are currently between emergencies."
Well, it caught my attention. With our current administration allowing a spy balloon to sit over our nuclear base in Montana and not do anything?  I guess it is an individual opinion as to if it was  a emergency or not.

What do you qualify as an emergency? Do you think you can survive most emergencies? Seems like life today consists of constant important issues that the media classifies as alert-emergency leaning things.  The quote above came from a book called HOW TO BEGIN WHEN YOUR WORLD IS ENDING, a Spiritual Field Guide to Joy Despite Everything.  by Molly Phinney Baskette   There are links there to her books... I have to say the entire service at St Paul E&R United Church of Christ on Lovers Lane in Dallas was like coming home.  I grew up there and was married there... and the day was full of reminders of the beauty around us despite all the challenges we face.   Molly says, "Life as it stands will keep trying to shake us up or smash our boat onto the rocks. This is not because God is a jerk, It's because Nature throws novel viruses and earthquakes and worse into our path.  It's also because humans are inventive and wonderful, but then we dream up things that ruin lives, like crystal meth, hyper-capitalism and high waisted jeans (not a good look for anyone.)"

Nothing can keep us from facing or experiencing loss. There is really no 'safe'.  She believes a fate worse than death is never living your life.  I would say, stop being afraid and start living today. What have you faced in the past three years and what are you 'attempting to adjust' to get back to normal. But wait, what was normal three years ago will not be normal today.  It is time to enjoy the very moment you are in right now as you read this.  These moments probably won't last long but give yourself permission to soak it in... Breathe and celebrate these moments.
