"Cosmos" 12 x 12 x 3/4 inches, Oil on Gallery wrapped canvas Painted with the palette knife Sometimes we are our own enemy. The last post mentioned regret for the things we'd not done, but why don't we just do it? Like the Nike Ad? "Just Do It"...well for many many personal reasons most likely. As long as the reasons are valid. For here's another quote to contemplate: "Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right" -- Henry Ford I think we can defeat ourselves by saying "I can't" just as you can do anything you put your mind to. So I think I'll challenge myself to not say "I can't" and see how I might be able to "can" and "do". Even if it takes a few tries. Like the The Little Engine That Could ...I should be saying, "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can" and chug along. "Secret Embrace," Paris ©2009 Niki Gulley oil painting • 11" x 14" Paris is definitely one of the most romantic cities in the world. So in this painting, I really wanted to convey that magic and romance. Between the ethereal fountains, the blue glow from twilight, the twinkling of the night lights, and a pair of lovers stealing a kiss in the shadows, I am transported back to our first perfect night in Paris. "Shadows Fall" , this is a Small painting, 6"x 8", oil on canvas panel Drama at the end of a day always strikes my fancy. The hardest thing is to know that it is coming and to place myself in a good location to take full advantage of it without being repetitious. Some evenings, I get all set up and the drama never comes. Other times I am just too late to capture it, or in the wrong place...
