Lylas Kay ~ Dutch Art Gallery ~ by Daily Painter Nancy Standlee

"Lylas Kay" Acrylic on canvas 9" x 12" This whimsical figure is one in a series I've called " Lylas ". I don't have a sister but share a close association with 7 members of Canvas by Canvas and I refer to them as "my sisters" and we often sign our emails with " lylas ". One in the group suggested I name the paintings from the group so my list is expanding to family and now includes other friends. This one is named for an online friend who is assisting with the gallery show at the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas where this painting will be found. Please visit my website and comment on my blog. Transformation

"Transformation" ©2009 by Niki Gulley oil painting • 48" x 60" Before I started painting my 12" x 12" canvases of birch trees, I was working on this large piece, Transformation. Rather than create an exact replica of the forest, I wanted to focus on brilliant color and simple shapes to see if I could communicate the excitement I feel when surrounded by nature. Using energetic diagonal strokes and thick, textured paint, I hope you get a sense of the motion in the leaves and the power of nature to invigorate your spirit. I just love how this piece captured that essence! For more information on this painting and about how to see it in person at the Cottonwood Art Festival in Dallas this weekend, e-mail me at niki@nikigulley.com. Or visit my website at nikigulley.com.

Green Dress Palette Knife Painting Judy Mackey

"Green Dress" 6 x 6 inches, Oil on gessoed board I've had a wonderful few days - spending time with other artists. On Thursday I had coffee with Linda Bein . I'd seen her name at a gallery in a town I'd exhbited my artwork this past Spring but I did not know her until we shared coffee. I emailed her introducing myself and she agreed to share a cup of coffee and network. On Friday, I went to Laurie Pace's house and visited her in her studio. That was a treat! Seeing another artist's studio!!! On Saturday I met with my pal Nancy Medina and we went shopping to Asel Art Supply in Dallas and visited a couple of Galleries on Dragon Street. I like talking with her, exchanging ideas, news and encouragments. I feel like I've been given a shot of inspiration!! Visit my blog, Artful Ideas.

Make a Joyful Noise by Judy Crowe 24x30

I am posting an archived painting because I am listening to Brandenburg Concerto #4 on Itunes. I downloaded this piece to put in a slide show of paintings that I put together for my students. This arrangement was put together by an artist named Kevin MacCleod. He has a website where you can use his creations for free in any project you are doing as long as you give credit to him. (donations of 5.00 are appreciated). The music is really beautiful and you can see what he does on his website. www.incompetech.com. Anyway, this is a orchestral piece and is really beautiful so you could check it out if you would like to have some royalty free music to put on a you tube video or something which I plan to do. This painting by the way is available in print form if you contact me. Or you can go to my page on Fine Art America.com Thanks for looking. www.judycrowe.com Contact 832.640.7131

Just Visiting

This image was painted as a commission after the style of my Texas tailgate series. The site is the old jail in Montague. It was use to the county's incorrigables for many years, before a new jail was built. It was also the location for the first meeting and founding of the Chisholm Trail Art Association in January 2007. If you have a special event or place in your life that you'd like to commemorate with one of my Texas tailgate series paintings, give me a shout. Untitled Landscape by Kay Wyne

Untitled Landscape I have not named this painting. It is oil on 12" x 12" panel. Layers of color. I started this painting as I was finishing up another. I had so much paint on my palette from the finished painting so I start this small painting, and this was the end result. This is a very peaceful painting---pleasant and easy to view. It will probably be for sale in our open studio show in November. Looks really nice in a gold plein air frame. I need to name this piece...if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear from you. Thanks for viewing this blog!!!

PUT ON YOUR BONNET BY PAT MEYER

This young lady had a delightful hat and look that needed to be painted. I tried a new style in painting her. Loose, free, colorful and juicy paint. HORSE RUNNING, western art Impressionist oil painting, Texas artist V. Bridges-Hoyt

9063 Horse "Keeper #1" Galloping Horse  Keeper #1  © Vernita Bridges Hoyt 2009 11x14 inches oil on canvas I was inspired by my daughter's horse "Keeper" as he galloped across the back pasture so used her photo (with permission, of course) for the horse reference and added an imaginary West Texas landscape. This painting was painted in my Texas Impressionist style and will be shown in the upcoming Artists of Texas exhibit at the Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas opening on October 17, 2009.  When this painting is purchased, 10% of the artist proceeds will be donated to True Blue Animal Rescue  in central Texas near Brenham.
