Totem 36"x36"x1.5" Acrylic on canvas Purchase Information Sometimes it's amazing how much we can accomplish once we put our minds to it.  I had stretched and prepped three large canvases a couple of days ago.  So, yesterday I had no excuses not to buckle down and paint in the studio.  With soft music in the background, I tackled this large white expanse and just started to paint.  As I continued, it began to evolve and eventually "speak" for itself.  It's a little hard to see the subtle color blending in this image but I was very pleased with the final result.  By the time "Totem" announced that it was finished, it was 3:00 in the afternoon and I had actually forgotten to eat lunch.  I need to have that happen more often!! Between the Lines 40"x36"x1.5" Acrylic on Canvas This is my first painting of the new year and I'm excited to finally be getting back into the studio.  I started this painting on a recycled canvas, that is, an old painting that was gessoed over and made "new" again.  I like the hints of color and texture that show through under the coat of gesso.  Somehow that helps to establish the direction of a new painting. As this painting developed, I started to make stronger definitions with various shades of white but always making sure to allow the under-painted colors to show through.  Although it may not show in this picture, this painting is actually very colorful, almost playful, with lots of rhythmic movement to move the eye across the canvas.
