Galveston Crab Coastal Art by Kristine Kainer

Oil 30x10 SOLD It has been a few months since I enjoyed a trip to Galveston (4 hours away), but my precious cargo for the return drive home--20 pounds of live blue crabs--still makes me smile! Though they have gone to the great bay in the sky, they will live on in my art.  Thank you, dear crustaceans! www.kristinekainer.com

Blue Crab by Kristine Kainer

Oil on Canvas Panel (Museum Grade) 8x10 Purchase Information I recently returned from a trip to Galveston (4 hours away) with precious cargo: 20 pounds of live blue crabs! The entire weekend was spent picking, then feasting, then picking, then feasting, etc. I must say, the efforts (and sore fingers) were worth every morsel! www.kristinekainer.com www.kristinekainer.blogspot.com Available Paintings:   eBay Etsy Website Fine Art America Prints #texasartist #coastalart #beachart #crabs #gulfcrab #bluecrab #Galveston #shellfish #ChesapeakeBay  Kristine Kainer AOT, OPA KristineKainer.com Gallery Links: UGallery Framer's Gallery

Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs Lazy Susan by Kristine Kainer

Chesapeake Blues Acrylic on Handmade MDF (Furniture Grade) Lazy Susan 14-inch Diameter NFS Yesterday, you saw my oysters on the half shell Lazy Susan which I made for my father's Christmas present.  Today, Mom's gift takes center stage. I grew up along the Eastern Seaboard, thanks to my dad's military service.  Though I now reside in Texas, I am often homesick for the delicious fresh shellfish that was in abundance for most of my life. As a sweet reminder of our time near the Chesapeake Bay, I painted this Lazy Susan for my mom.  (Actually, this was originally for Dad--sorry, Dad!--but I struggled painting all those crustaceans and Christmas loomed.  I switched his subject in order to ship in a timely fashion.) Thus, Mom has the crabs (the Lazy Susan crabs, that is). Commissions welcome! Blue Crab by Kristine Kainer

Oil 10x8 SOLD This gorgeous creature was caught off the waters of Galveston.  We were fortunate enough to be on the docks soon after the catch arrived.  We selected half a bushel, headed to our rented beach cottage, and--with plenty of Old Bay-- had a mouthwatering meal that evening. Commissions welcome. www.kristinekainer.com www.kristinekainer.blogspot.com

Gulf Crab by Kristine Kainer

Oil on gallery-wrapped canvas 24x12 SOLD As an Eastern Seaboard resident, I was well-acquainted with the exquisite blue crabs from the Chesapeake Bay.  Their delectable meat, kissed with Old Bay seasoning and dipped in vinegar is an incomparable eating experience.  Imagine my surprise one year upon visiting a local crab house in Virginia and finding out that the crabs were flown in from Texas! Now a resident of Texas, I dearly miss my Atlantic coast, yet I am grateful for the bounty of the Gulf of Mexico.  Every time I visit Galveston, I pack my personal supply of Old Bay and hit the wharves in search of this culinary treasure.  It's almost like being home again.... www.kristinekainer.com www.kristinekainer.blogspot.com

Kristine Kainer: Blue Crab

Oil on canvas on panel, 6x6--$50--Contact me for purchase information I was told that "Texas" blue crabs were harvested in the Gulf of Mexico. Yet, in the seven years I've lived in Texas, I have yet to see (or taste) one. Thus, unless I receive some culinary guidance, I must say that Maryland blue crabs rule (especially with Old Bay seasoning)!
