Artists Of Texas Contemporary Paintings and Art

“Running Red III”  ©2022 Niki Gulley 30" x 48" Textured Mixed Media on Canvas In this series, I wanted to create pieces that are full of joy, energy, texture and light. Working on oversized canvases and painting the blossoms larger than life add to that feeling of hope and exuberance. Choosing to leave the background airy and working with thick layers of white on white paint, ribbons of brightly colored blooms dance across the canvas with spontaneity and freedom. Subconsciously, I feel like these light-filled visions came to me in response to so much bad news and the COVID lockdown. Searching for a way to create more space, room to roam and the freedom to live life to its fullest, I hope these paintings bring the beauty of nature inside and fill your spirit with light and cheer.       “Pops of Color" Series ©2022 Niki Gulley 12" x 12" textured mixed media painting on 1.5" wrap around canvas with the painting continuing around the edges This series or Texas wildflowers, bearded irises and ruby red poppies, incorporates extremely thick paint applied with palette knife along with drips and swirls to add energy and whimsy. This gives the paintings a 3D feel that comes alive and jumps off the canvas, while adding joy and color to your room. If you'd like to see companion pieces in the series, please e-mail me to see my other options. " Pops of Red " ©2022 Niki Gulley 24" x 12" textured mixed media painting on canvas I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of vibrant poppies flowing along this grassy hill. Making sure to not over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature, Pops of Red II is loaded with texture, color and movement. Vertical diagonal rows of ruby jewel tones lead your eye to the foliage in the distance, inviting you to stroll amongst the gorgeous wildflowers. Arranging the blooms vertically are designed to lift your spirits and add joy and serenity to your home. E-mail  Niki Gulley  for more information on my poppy and wildflower paintings.    "Nature's Brushstrokes IV" ©2021 Niki Gulley 24" x 48" diptych textured mixed painting on canvas I love it when we are driving through the countryside and we come across a gorgeous field of wildflowers. The sudden burst of color thrills your senses! I wanted to capture the rhythm, color, and density of this brilliant carpet of red. Making sure not to over blend my thick strokes so that you could see the marks and feel the energy found in nature. Repeating patterns and waves of color create a harmony within the painting, while rendering the blooms and their surroundings abstractly plays with taking a traditional subject matter and showing it in a contemporary way.   " Pops of Red " ©2021 Niki Gulley 24" x 12" textured mixed media painting on canvas Red is one of those colors that just jump out at you and warms your heart. Every time I set out to paint them my spirt explodes with pleasure. That is what I try to convey when someone views my painting, the joy that I felt as I painted. E-mail  Niki Gulley  for more information on my poppy field and wildflower paintings. To see more of my contemporary impressionistic landscape paintings, visit  nikigulley.com .

“Pops of Color" Series ©2021 Niki Gulley 12" x 12" textured mixed media painting on 1.5" wrap around canvas with the painting continuing around the edges I just knew that when I said that there would be red poppies coming that these would be a big hit. I have incorporated some of my new drip techniques in there for a little added punch. Not that poppies need anything extra, but it was just fun. There is still thick paint along with bold strokes for the style that you have become accustomed to with my work.  To purchase these poppy paintings, please contact AO5 Gallery in Austin, TX at  https://ao5gallery.com/collections/nikki-gulley/products/admiring-the-view. *** For details on more of my bluebonnet and Iris paintings on this series, please e-mail  Niki Gulley.    “Running Red” ©2020 Niki Gulley 30" x 48" Textured Mixed Media on Canvas I was inspired this year to paint uplifting  energetic scenes to give spirits a boost. I chose to make the subjects appear as if they were about to come off the canvas and fill you homes with joy and happiness. By leaving more negative space around bright red blooms, it makes them more airy and give them room to flow. To purchase, please visit  https://www.nikigulley.com/running-red/ . *** To see more of my contemporary landscape paintings, please visit  nikigulley.com. " Pops of Red " ©2020 Niki Gulley 24" x 12" textured mixed media painting on canvas Crimson poppies just seem to stand out against a green background and this was one of those perfect examples.    "Nature's Brushstrokes IV" ©2020 Niki Gulley 24" x 48" diptych textured mixed painting on canvas One of my favorite joys in the world is running across a colorful  field of wildflowers, especially when it looks like they have rolled out the red carpet. There was such an amazing ebb and flow to this patch that it reminded me of ocean waves. So I made my strokes to match that intensity and energy. I'm excited to have been invited to exhibit at Studio Seven Arts in Pleasanton, CA. Yes, I need to post images!  We are working on the backyard and waiting for trees that cannot be delivered due to rain,  Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.  The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God liv...

Poppy Zest Table Fest by Nancy Medina 48X30 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Poppy Zest Table Fest is done! Thanks to all my friends on Facebook who helped create the perfect name for this painting. I am picturing this in a breakfast nook, something to watch over you while you eat your croissant warm from the oven and sip your double mocha with (extra!!) whippy creme each morning, with a little snorfley critter near your feet in your lap waiting for crumbs. I've been having so much fun creating these big floral table-scapes lately, but it's time to produce some new small paintings, too, so stay tuned for those.  I'll be announcing the winner of my Paint Flowers From Life contest in my newsletter next week. Be sure to sign up for my newsletter to find out who will win a 3-day flower painting workshop ! Follow my art every day on my Facebook Fan page!  Poppy Zest detail....
