Abstract by Kay Wyne

Horizontal 48" x 60"  Vertical 60" x 48" I painted this abstract on a 48" x 60" Gallery Wrap Canvas.  It can hang vertically or horizontally.  I painted it horizontally until the last day, and at the point I turned it on it's side to reach some canvas that needed some detail and brushstrokes headed in another direction.  Turning the canvas on all four sides gives the viewer some options on hanging... This painting started out as a landscape with a horizon line and colorful land bars.  Once my wide lines and shape started to take place, it began to look and feel like a stream of water with fish swimming upstream.  I concentrated on my color palette from the get-go, wanting pleasant and beautiful colors.  I mixed everything...nothing is straight out of a tube.  This painting is drying at the studio.  It isn't titled right now....although "Upstream" might be a good choice.  The sides of the canvas are painted w...

Courageous by Kay Wyne

Courageous 30" x 40" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Abstract Painting Courageous is a contemporary abstract painting with bold colors.  I started with a titan buff background so that the ochre, scarlet and the blues would bounce off of each other.  The wide brushstrokes give the canvas movement, energy and boldness.  I was careful not to create muddy colors...something that is so easy to do when painting in oils.  This painting was painted horizontally, but as we have experimented in the studio, it can hang vertically.  Contact Kay  for more information on this painting.  Thanks, Kay

Transfusion by Kay Wyne

Transfusion 48" x 72" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas This contemporary oil painting might be finished. Viewer John Kazlauskas suggested "Transfusion" for the title, and I think it fits. It is hard to see the texture and the paint built up on the canvas by the photograph. I managed to take it outside and photograph, then hang it pretty high in the studio...needs to get some drying time. I used several brushes, palette knives and scrapers to spread the paint. It has gone through alot of changes...I will let you know if I work on any changes. Thanks for viewing this blog!! Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com
