Transcending Luminosity by Niki Gulley now available in Canvas Prints

"Transcending Luminosity" ©2012 Niki Gulley I decided it would be a fun challenge to create an extremely large painting this winter, and I wanted the final piece to be very uplifting, colorful and full of energy. Opting for warm colors and working with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives, I chose this water scene for its energetic flow and yet calming serenity at the same time, and positioned the water lilies and my paint strokes in a circular pattern to enliven that mood. Now available in canvas prints.   I have added thick paint to the prints so they are loaded with texture.  They are UV coated and are stretched with the painting continuing around the edges on 3/4" stretcher bars so that they can be hung as is without a frame, or if you prefer a traditional look, they can be framed also.  20" x 30" for $295 • 28" x 40" for $495 A close up detail of the lily pads where thick paint has been added. A Taste of Texas Watermelon by V. Bridges Hoyt

A TASTE OF TEXAS watermelon oil on cradled wood panel, 10x10 inches © V. Bridges Hoyt 2011 Watermelon is traditional fare for Independence Day celebrations in Texas. The sweet, juicy red meat of Texas watermelons can not be beat.  I used a palette knife (no brushwork) to paint the watermelon on a cradled wood board. I do love that surface for knife work especially. Colors used include cad red medium, alizarin crimson, cad yellow light, viridian green, raw umber and a little ultramarine blue. Oh, and Titanium white. View purchase information on my blog at  TXsauce.blogspot.com . Any questions, please  click here to contact me .   Vernita Bridges Hoyt

Zen Garden oil painting by Niki Gulley

"Zen Garden" ©2010 Niki Gulley 10" x 8" oil painting Having grown up in Chicago, this painting is inspired by the Japanese Garden at the Chicago Botanic Gardens since I've always loved their grounds ever since I was a little kid. In fact, I painted this piece from a photo I took in high school and have held onto all of these years! I thought it would be fun to paint the scene in thick oil with palette knives. I especially like how the broken color strokes on the water make it look like its surface is shimmering in the sun. To purchase Zen Garden, e-mail me at Niki@NikiGulley.com. American Airlines Exhibit

"Current of Tranquility" ©2010 Niki Gulley 36" x 60" oil on canvas In this painting I wanted to communicate the peacefulness that comes over me when I'm near water, choosing cool blues and purples to heighten that feeling. I also wanted just a hint of vibrancy in the painting so I chose yellow accents in the leaves and along the bank to add contrast and life. "Current of Tranquility" and several of my other paintings were selected to exhibit at American Airlines' headquarters and I'm excited about attending the opening reception this afternoon!
