Artists Of Texas Contemporary Paintings and Art

"Rosie Bell", a horned cow palette knife painting.I used rich buttery oils on a 6" x 6" x1.5" wrapped canvas, all sides painted a dark hue,so no need to frame. Rosie Bell looks to be waiting for some fun after a long day of sunshine and sweet grasses. Thank you for looking at my work. "Wiggles" is painted in oils on an 11" x 14" Masonite board. This was a challenge, as I have never met Wiggles in person, and had to use email photos. The owners are thrilled, especially noting that I painted the "marking" inside her left ear. I almost omitted that, thinking viewers might portray it as a mistake of some sort- glad I went with what I could see! "Fireworks"! Stepping out of my box, I created this one from oil pastels and oil paints on a gallery wrapped canvas. I enjoy painting animals, and people, but every once in awhile I enjoy the challenge of a landscape, seascape or waterscape creation. It was my first experience applying oil pastels on a stretched canvas. I was surprised with the ease of using them on canvas, and really enjoyed mixing in the sunset and water colors. The results was this soothing end-of-the-day painting. Thanks for reading my blog and looking at my work. "Fruit of the Vine" by Texas artist Sandra Reeves Cutrer. This bright and painterly style original work is painted in oils on a  large 24" x 30" x 1.5" gallery wrapped stretched canvas. All sides are painted as a continuation of the background. Big and bold, bright leaves made this work really "pop" for me! I am a wildlife painter, but I enjoy getting out of my box sometimes, painting still life, abstracts, and whatever my heart leads me to paint. This is such a soothing piece to me, with the reddish-orange hues, and lots of shades of greens. I think I'll go pour myself  a glass of wine... Thanks for reading my blog and looking at my work. "Wiggles" is finished and drying, soon to be shipped to her owners. The wife is surprising her husband with this oil portrait painting for Father's Day. Miss Wiggles is a rescue pooch. I painted her from emailed photos ( they live out of state), so I am extremely happy that her owner says I caught her true coloring and personality in my work. The painting is done on an 11 x 14" professional art board in top quality oil paints. I love taking commissions and letting the client see the process of my work. This client is well pleased, which makes me super happy. "Sounds of Paris" by Sandra Reeves Cutrer. This small oil painting was painted from one of many photographs I took while in Paris, France a couple of years ago. Akecheta, means "fighter" or "warrior" in the great Sioux language. I enjoy painting portraits of Native Americans, especially working hard to capture the heart and soul from their expressive eyes. I feel blessed to have Cherokee- Choctaw blood running through my veins, and am always intrigued with the stories and lives of these wonderful native people. Queen of the Beast, a lioness. This lovely lady is painted in oils on a small (5" x 7") stretched canvas. Ready to frame and hang in your favorite room. I have photographed this sweet girl at the Houston Zoo on many occasions. It seems she doesn't mind a few poses for my camera, and has always been such a calm cat. Of course, I really know better than to think she would be cuddly. In the wild a lioness is a ferocious hunter, killing to care for herself, her young, and taking on the many responsibilities of a pride. The females are usually the main providers! Happy Mother's Day to all of the blessed mothers out there who have provided for their families, sacrificing so much for others. Bless you! Thanks for reading my blog and viewing my work. Bravado! A Native American brave in oils on a 16"x 20" canvas, ready for framing.  I enjoy and find it a challenge to capture the beauty of the Native Americans. I grew up hearing about my Native American heritage- part Choctaw, part Cherokee. Doing a lot of family research and genealogy the last few years, I still haven't been able to find out how far back that blood line goes, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying the beautiful culture and wonderment of these great people.
