The Music Man by Joan Eure Fine Art

"The Music Man" 16H x 12W Pastel on Kitty Wallis Paper This painting can be yours for only $195.00 (includes mat and frame).  This gentleman was a very good model.  He plays in a band on Saturday nights, and even played several tunes for us.  Painting from a live model is wonderful.  It is a challenge, because no matter how still you think you are, your chin tilts or the heads shifts at times.  When I paint people from a snapshot, you can turn your photo upside down to find your mistakes.  Can't do that with your model.  Your really get the true colors and get to know them which always helps to bring out their personality. Akecheta, a Native American Portrait by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Akecheta, means "fighter" or "warrior" in the great Sioux language. I enjoy painting portraits of Native Americans, especially working hard to capture the heart and soul from their expressive eyes. I feel blessed to have Cherokee- Choctaw blood running through my veins, and am always intrigued with the stories and lives of these wonderful native people. Bravado, a Native American Indian by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Bravado! A Native American brave in oils on a 16"x 20" canvas, ready for framing.  I enjoy and find it a challenge to capture the beauty of the Native Americans. I grew up hearing about my Native American heritage- part Choctaw, part Cherokee. Doing a lot of family research and genealogy the last few years, I still haven't been able to find out how far back that blood line goes, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying the beautiful culture and wonderment of these great people. Thanks for reading my blog, and viewing my work. Two Feathers by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Two Feathers   A Native American Indian original oil painting on a 14” x 16” stretched canvas. This brave’s portrait tells a tale from his eyes. There is sorrow and pain there, as well as flickers of past pleasures. Many souls are remembered in his mind, loving family, and great hunts from long ago. Thanks for looking at my work. "Bravado" an Indian Brave by Sandra Reeves Cutrer, an artist of Texas

"Bravado" American Indian, original painted in oils on a 16"x20" stretched canvas.   One of my favorite photographers of Native American Indians is Edward S. Curtis (1868 – 1952).Curtis dropped out of school in the sixth grade, soon building his own camera, and by the age of seventeen became an apprentice photographer . Later, he was offered the job of photographing a group of Native American Indians, which seems to be the beginning of his artistic life. So many people love the emotion that Curtis emits from his work. Nearly all of his photos bring to the viewer a feeling and understanding of the trying times for these people, most of whom were poor, sick, hungry, and still attempting to keep some sort of dignity in spite of the horrible hardships they had endured. I tried to capture these hardships in the eyes of this brave warrior. Thanks for looking! For purchasing information, please contact me at : Sandra Reeves Cutrer sandrasart777@aol.com src...
