SOLD! "Tiger in the Grass" was painted in oils on a 12"x12"x1.5" gallery wrapped stretched canvas (painted on all sides) with palette knives. This painting brings back sweet memories from a long time ago. Our only daughter, Michelle, loved her Little Golden Books, especially "Charlie in the Grass". Charlie was a cute yellow kitten who struck out on his own, meeting his animal neighbors. Charlie was a lot smaller than this tiger, but I have the feeling that Charlie thought he was just as brave. "Rocky Mountain Warrior" is a longhorn sheep, or "Ram". A magnificent animal. Graceful on the mountains, climbing on ledges and crevices that would make anyone like myself shutter ( I am deathly afraid of heights)! I have painted this detailed portrait on a professional canvas board. These two sweethearts were painted loosely (with a lot of fun) in bright colors. My husband and I were on a short vacation in North Louisiana, when I spotted them in a field. As I approached the fence, they came running toward me. I'm pretty sure they were expecting a treat. The female was large and pregnant, while her hubby seemed very alert and protective of her as I snapped a few photos for reference material. Painted in oils on a 16"x20" stretched canvas, ready to frame. These two cuties  will bring a pop of color and some fun to your favorite room! " Flamingo Flare" is a small original oil painting on an 8" x 8" x 0.5" wrapped canvas-all sides are painted, making it easy to hang without a frame, or simply add your favorite frame. I painted this bathing beauty from photos I took at Galveston , Texas ’ Moody Gardens . A flamingo's vibrant colors vary, as they depend upon the nutrients from seafood, like shrimp, which is high in beta-carotene, or algae, keeping their plumage a pretty pink-orange. This one seemed be be getting her fill of goodies, as she was popping with color! Thank you for looking. For more information or purchasing, please contact me at sandrasart777@aol.com. Queen of the Beast, a lioness. This lovely lady is painted in oils on a small (5" x 7") stretched canvas. Ready to frame and hang in your favorite room. I have photographed this sweet girl at the Houston Zoo on many occasions. It seems she doesn't mind a few poses for my camera, and has always been such a calm cat. Of course, I really know better than to think she would be cuddly. In the wild a lioness is a ferocious hunter, killing to care for herself, her young, and taking on the many responsibilities of a pride. The females are usually the main providers! Happy Mother's Day to all of the blessed mothers out there who have provided for their families, sacrificing so much for others. Bless you! Thanks for reading my blog and viewing my work. I hope you can see the genuine love and protection Mom is showing for her little boy. Elephants are so intelligent, and totally devoted to their families and other members of their herd. Painted in oils on a 12" x 12" x 1" stretched gallery wrapped canvas (all sides painted a dark hue), ready to hang in your favorite room, framed or unframed. What a huge animal this guy was in person. I was told he was friendly, but as he quickly approached the small wired fence hanging between us, I lost my courage to stay and find out. I snapped a few photos, then hastily made my way back to the safety of our Bed and Breakfast. I love animals, but being a lot smaller than this big boy, I wanted to give him all the room he needed, plus some! I really enjoyed the light playing on his reddish-brown hide. It took a lot of mixing colors to get it just right. Thanks for reading my blog and looking at my work. I have always thought ducks were so pretty. While growing up, we had our share of animals, including a few ducks. One evening my Dad had gone out to feed and water them.As soon as he turned on the water faucet he found the garden hose had been transformed into a sort of drip hose- with hundreds of cuts throughout the length of it. His first thoughts were toward my two brothers,as they had practiced throwing their new pocket knives into the ground the day before. Right after their spankings, and total denial that they had done this terrible deed,my Dad went back outside to turn off the water. There were the ducks, eagerly showing my Dad exactly how those holes had been made as they proceeded to bite on that "weird looking device"! Later we had a sweet little pet duck we promptly named Cuckoo because he walked in circles, so all was forgiven, and we kept our ducks for a long time. "Wild and Free" a tiger portrait by Wildlife Artist Sandra Reeves Cutrer. This beautiful cat is painted in oils on a professional artist board, 8" x 10", ready for framing. I have meticulously painted in much of his fur and whiskers, making him as realistic as possible, yet maintaining a painterly approach so his new owner will appreciate it as an original oil work. His eyes have followed me for days, as I have worked on several other animal paintings. I feel like he has become part of my studio, and I think I will come up with a more personal name for him soon!   "The Pink Tango" is an original oil painting on a  22" x 28" x 0.50" stretched canvas. These two Roseate Spoonbills make their home around the gulf area of southeast Texas. Far off, these birds are sometimes mistaken for pink flamingos. I love their colorful heads and pink, fluffy plumage. The paint seemed to flow on the canvas when I worked this piece. I don't think the photo does this painting justice at all-so much more vibrant in person. Don't they look to be dancing the Tango?  Thanks for viewing my work and reading my blog. "Night Glider" a barn owl. This is an original oil painting on canvas by Texas Wildlife Artist Sandra Reeves Cutrer. Look at those expressive deep pools, dark eyes that are  forward-facing, an adaptation that gives them binocular vision. Like all owls, they are unable to move their eyes within their eye sockets and must instead rotate their head to direct their focus on different locations. With their heart-shaped white face, who can not fall in love with these beautiful birds.Painting the feathers to show their soft fluffy growth was rewarding work. I really enjoyed working on Night Glider! Thanks for reading my blog and looking at my work.
