Drifting by Kay Wyne

Drifting 24" x 36" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Wildflower Landscape Painting When I started this landscape, I wanted a soft, mystical feel to the painting.  I wanted the viewer to "drift" into the painting and roam around the canvas.  The wildflowers are fading into the background, and everything is still.  Not alot of bold brush strokes going on...which many of my paintings have.  The sky is a soft icey gray-blue, and the wildflowers have magentas, ochres, and blue-greens.  This canvas is stretched on gallery wrap stretcher bars, so frame is not needed.  Contact  Kay  for more information on this painting.  Thanks for looking...KMW

Beyond by Kay Wyne

Beyond 22" x 28" Oil on Canvas Contemporary Floral Landscape Painting This painting is very wet, with layers and layers of oils.  At the end of the day, I pulled out my palette knife and layered more paint in the foreground on the flowers.  The thick paint gives it texture and interest.  My inspiration for this painting was a photograph of a very colorful landscape with a house and garden in it, but I chose to go totally landscape on this one.  I will post this painting again if I make any changes....I need to let it sit a on the easel for several days and look at it.  Thanks for looking at this painting...contact  ME  with any questions or comments.  Thanks, Kay

Wildflower Field by Kay Wyne

Wildflower Field 12" x 24" Oil on Canvas Contemporary Floral Landscape Here's another painting in the colorful wildflower series that I am currently working on.  I pulled some colors that I normally don't use, and mixed several new combinations.  The canvas size is a change-up from my favorite format:  the square.  I have a beautiful silver frame to put on this painting...it will be ready for a new home soon!  Contact  Kay Wyne  for more information.  Thanks for looking....Kay

Springtime Colors by Kay Wyne

Springtime Colors 22" x 28" Oil on Canvas Contemporary Palette Knife Painting This contemporary floral landscape is completed and signed!  The thick layers of paint will take a long time to dry...so it will be sitting in the studio for now.  I am going to frame it up in a dark wood moulding, so that the colors will pop!  The field of poppies flows into the background of the field...fading away into the horizon line. This is a close-up shot of the knife work.  I did not use a brush, only a knife to apply the oils.    Thanks for looking at this blog and the art posted here.  Contact Kay  for info on this painting.  Thanks, Kay

Aspens and Wildflowers by Kay Wyne

Aspens & Wildflowers 24" x 24" Oil on Canvas Contemporary Landscape Painting This painting is sitting on my easel...I want to take a few days to look at it, and maybe make some small changes.  I wanted the viewer's eye to look at the colorful wildflowers in the foreground, and then the eye to wander through the canvas to the background.  The aspens have some texture on them....indicating knobby knots and bark.  The leaves are thick strokes of paint....all with the brush.  Contact  Kay  for more information on this painting.  Thanks for looking at this blog!  Kay

Wildflower Summer by Kay Wyne

Wildflower Summer 8" x 8" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Wildflower Landscape Series Contemporary Palette Knife Painting This painting is so wet with juicy oils...I started with my flat brush, but could not wait to get the palette knives out to move the paint around.  I am happy with the colors, the composition and look of this little painting.  I borrowed some beautiful colors that she had mixed on her palette, and they were going to dry up if I didn't dive into them. Contact  Kay  for purchasing info. Thanks for looking at this blog.  KMW

The Long Road Ahead by Kay Wyne

The Long Road Ahead 14" x 14" Old on Gallery Wrap Canvas Contemporary Landscape Painting This painting started with a photograph taken by my husband years ago.  I liked the road, and the hint of flowers along the countryside.  I don't know where the photo was taken, but I took my artistic license and changed the colors, but wanted the long road to disappear into the horizon.  The color palette is somewhat toned down for me...but I enjoyed experimenting with the lavenders, magentas and olive greens.  Thanks for looking at this blog...Contact  me  if you have any questions or comments.  This painting is for sale...and needs a new home.  Thanks, Kay
