"Light Moves" Oil on Gessobord by Dawn Waters Baker

"Light Moves" 30x30, Oil on Gessobord Finished this larger piece last week but went back today to make sure it didn't need any more highlights. I wanted the light to do the most "work" in the image so I tried to just keep it very simple. I so enjoy these Texas skies. So full of mood and beauty. It's a challenge to try to capture both.

"Rubicund" 36x36, Oil on Canvas by Dawn Waters Baker

"Rubicund" 36x36, Oil on Canvas Finished the larger work based on the little study I did a few weeks ago. How I love the skies in Texas. They don't disappoint! It seems in the fall the colors seem sharper. I liked the juxtaposition of the cool against the warm.

"Rubicund" 6x6, Oil on Gessobord by Dawn Waters Baker

"Rubicund" 6x6, Oil on Gessobord I've been going through these little studies to get at the colors that I would want to try bigger. I like the way I got at the blue/purple in the background. It almost hurt my eyes to paint this one. There are skies I've seen that are so purple and orange/red ALL at the same moment. It's so glorious.  I used a different Cadmium this time. Cad Orange. I like it. It has a punch that you can't get when you mix Cad Red and Cad Yellow Light.

"Opening" 6x9, Oil on Gessobord by Dawn Waters Baker

"Opening" 6x9, Oil on Gessobord  I have been wanting to do some Texas skies. I loved the way this one had a little opening of light that illuminated everything with a warm glow. I also like the way the clouds express a tension between the cool and warm colors. I look up and see this tension yet it is harmonious. The light ties it all together.

"Strands of Light" 10x20, Oil on Canvas by Dawn Waters Baker

"Strands of Light" 10x20, Oil on Canvas     Oh, how I love those vibrant Texas skies. They inspire me and move me. This was painted for Summer Colors coming up at Scottish Rite Hospital for Children here in Dallas on July 31st. I wanted to have something for the auction.
