His and Hers!

These could be called 'His and Hers' ...if purchased together as a set! I had fun working on these. Love the fringe on chaps.  They are 16x16 on stretched canvas.  I wanted some more new pieces for the show in Fort Worth, TX. It is the month of November.

In Training

Every year I have some snow people drawn that I never get time to paint, and this is another one that I found in my sketchbook, so I got it painted, and it is another one of my favorites. I see so many kids in the grocery store with their baskets along with their mom. They are so cute. I call them 'In Training' because it won't be long before they are out on their own, doing their own thing.

Old Yeller by Suzy 'Pal' Powell

I found this old truck in Brownfield, TX and had to stop and photo it! It was orange and caught my eye going through town.  I intended for mine to be orange-y but it ended up yellow, and I liked it! It is only 4x6". suzy_pal2000@yahoo.com

SWS 50th Membership Show

Ellie   I found out today that this painting got in the SWS Show. (Southwestern Watercolor Society -Dallas)  I am a signature member, but is always exciting to get in a juried show.  Jean Grastorf was the juror and I am so thrilled she let this one in! This is done on 300 lb hot press watercolor paper and I enjoy working on it.  I like the soft look you can get with it

247-Unknown U.S. Soldier

I painted this years ago, probably one of my first flags. (in the 90's)   I was tempted to work on it but decided I wouldn't. I Would just leave it like I did it back then. Thank you to all the families who waited at home, praying for news from their special 'soldier', and thank you to all the veterans that served our wonderful country to keep us free,  I took photos of a cemetery in Mississippi  that was nothing but rows of white head stones. This one really touched me.

Rusty Green by Suzy 'Pal' Powell

I have been sketching each day with ink only since Oct.13th! I love doing the sketches, and they have helped me improve with my drawing so much! This old truck was at Ceta Canyon, TX.

Companions by Suzy 'Pal' Powell

Another sketch of old trucks.  I love to paint rust! These are 4"x10" on Bockingford Watercolor paper. I have decided I really like this paper! I will be  using some more.

Art Friends by Suzy 'Pal' Powell

I thought of all my art friends as I painted this! Thought of how much we help each other! It is so great to be able to ask any of you for advice, your opinion, and you always give yourself freely! so...this is us working together! What fun it is! Suzy Pal Powell website

Christopher Cross Christmas CD with my Art Work in it by Suzy 'Pal' Powell

I am so excited! This has been in the making for over 3 years! I can't believe it is finally done! Three years ago, Christoper Cross' agent called me, and told me that they were looking online for something for his Christmas album, and they found my work and he loved my red pick up! Well....I am not big into names, so I really didn't know who he was, and I called Keri (my daughter) and told her, and she was throwing fits, told me who he was and what he sang, and that I needed to ask her if that was who he was!  So, the next time we talked I ask 'nonchalantly' if he sang 'Sailing' and she said yes he was! He also wanted me to paint the mailbox that is on the back page.  He owns both paintings.  I was so excited I told everybody, then a year later, she writes and says the company who does his albums didn't want to  use it, and I was disappointed ,but know things change, so I just forgot about it, other than being embarrassed that...

Fall is Here! by Suzy 'Pal' Powell

Boston Church Since Fall is here, and Labor day behind us,  I thought I would post this church, that I painted a while back.  The churches in Maine and Massachusetts are so pretty!  They loom up to the blue sky, and the beautiful red and orange trees just make them even whiter! It is such a beautiful place to visit, and I hope to go back someday! My blog Email

Dream Truck

Dream Truck Sold I just wanted to have fun with this old truck! So I just went wild with painting the bright yellow flowers on it! This is the kind of old truck I would like to have to drive to workshops! That would be a hoot!

Full Moon by Suzy 'Pal' Powell

Full Moon This is 11x14 matted  available for $50.00. suzypal@lyntegar.com This old truck was in Tokio,TX, and it was grown up in weeds and grass.  It is gone now, along with the old post office, that I loved so much, the school, church and store.  It was a wonderful little country 'town'. Is so sad when I go through there and see what used to be!  I have painted all the buildings there, even though they have all fallen down now.  This truck was not supposed to be a night scene, but it had a mind of its own! I had other plans, and it just wasn't working.  I have read that if you let it, a painting will tell you what it needs, or wants, and this one for sure did!  I love it when this happens. When it changes MY mind!

Fair Weather by Suzy 'Pal' Powell

This old car, I named 'Fair Weather' because of the light in it.  I put down an under-painting of yellows, blues and reds. Then I drew the car, and tried really hard to keep it all light. It was not easy for me, since I love dark  backgrounds. I wanted to convey a light happy day in a cute old car! It is 11x14 matted.  This is available for $50.00. suzypal@lyntegar.com

Green and Yellow by Suzy 'Pal' Powell

This old truck was in O'Donnell Texas, hidden away behind a fence.  It is painted with gouache with the mixed media technique using the phone book pages collaged down first.  The license plate wasn't painted, it just worked with the lettering from the collage. I love this color of green along with the yellow. It is 11x14 with a mat and frame (or larger mat can be used) and is available $50.00. suzypal@lyntegar.com
