White Roses and a New Workshop by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Wayfarer White Roses ~ SOLD by Nancy Medina 16X20 Oil on Linen Panel Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Because my spring workshops are full, I have opened a new 2-day workshop February 15-16. Put a little joy in your brush and let's make flowers bloom in brilliant colors, even though it's a bit early for spring blossoms to appear! . Click here for more information! . Wayfarer White Roses was based on the flowers of Coronado, California, and has graced the cover of the Dallas Arboretum Adult Education Catalog and Web site. I've revived these blossoms to celebrate the announcement today of the Dallas Arboretum Blooms Festival coming up this spring. It's the best time to visit the gardens and get a few hundred photos of tulips, azaleas, pansies, daffodils, cherry blossoms, and dozens of other flowers all blooming simultaneously! It's been a great week for my little home grown art studio, and I learned today that ...

SOLD ~ Blue Glass Lilies by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Blue Glass Lilies and Hydrangeas by Nancy Medina SOLD 16X20 Oil on Archival Panel Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Blue Glass Lilies and Hydrangeas is the newest painting in Flower Mound Studio, based on the lilies that are breathing their last bit of life and which I could not bear to toss today. I loved how they looked with the blue vase, and even though they never quite opened properly, decided to give them one more evening under the spotlight. I found at least one spot where I could lay the end of an orange stamen right on top of that blue glass, one of those little victories! Today I took our adopted pug, Hannah on an outing, just me and her. Ever since we adopted Hannah, she would get so excited when I put her collar or harness on, and wanted to go with me even if I was just dressing her after her bath. Each time lately, though, the rides have ended up at the vet. This morning when I put her collar on, inste...

SOLD ~ Red Geraniums and a Kansas City Flower Painting Workshop by Nancy Medina

Just for Now Red Geraniums by Nancy Medina SOLD 16X12 Oil on Archival Panel Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Just for Now Red Geraniums is the newest painting on the easel in Flower Mound Studio, based on the batch of geraniums I cut after dark from my back yard container garden yesterday. Tonight I went out again, needing a fresh batch, but was smart enough this time to carry a small flashlight. And I promise I was not running with scissors in the dark, just in case my Mom is reading this.... I'm very excited to announce I will be holding my first workshop in my home state of Missouri June 21-23, 2013, in Lees Summit, near Kansas City. Kansas City ladies, I hope to see you there! Read more about my new workshop here.... The models are a little less than perky this morning...

Sweet Clementines and Blue Hydrangea Painting by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Sweet Clementines and Blue Hydrangeas by Nancy Medina 18X18 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Sweet Clementines, Blue Hydrangeas and White Roses is the newest painting in Flower Mound Studio, as I begin work on a new large rose commission. I love the cold weather that has rolled in, and freely admit to being one of those odd people who start playing Christmas music on November 1 and refuse to take down the tree until February. Fortunately, I do have a helper who likes to keep the tree handy, too, but she prefers to pull things off the tree, rather than hang ornaments on it! Visit my art blog today to see my helper in action....

Three of a Kind White Roses by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Three of a Kind White Roses by Nancy Medina 12X16 Oil on Panel SOLD Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Three of a Kind White Roses was one of the demo paintings I completed for my workshop in Tennessee last weekend. After arriving back in Texas, it was tough heading back to the desk job having just spent a wonderful three days making color happen with a room filled with excited, happy students. I never knew when I began teaching flower painting over a year ago how much I would enjoy it. It's like discovering a new life's passion at the age of 50! It just goes to show it is never too late to have hopes and dreams. Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul And sings the tune without the words And never stops at all. Emily Dickinson

White Roses, Larkspur and Kiwi Step by Step and a Texas Flower Painting Workshop by Nancy Medina

White Roses, Larkspur and Kiwi by Nancy Medina Class Demo, Irving, Texas 16X20 Oil on Linen Board Purchase Information White Roses, Larkspur and Kiwi was my demo painting for class today in Irving, Texas, at the Jaycee Park Center for the Arts and the first time I ever painted kiwi. I've shared it with you step by step below, and also some photos of my student's paintings. It was one of those classes where I wanted to grab up all the luscious student paintings and run out of the building saying Mine Mine Mine!!  The kiwi was fun to paint, and I am sure I'll do it again, but I had forgotten to bring a knife so attempted to saw the fruit in half with a pair of blunt scissors, until one of my students whipped out her handy dandy exacto knife and saved the day. Mushy kiwi is not pretty. Trust me on that. To see this painting step by step, see some of my students' paintings and glean some insightful observations about kiwi, click here... Put...

Orange Kiss White Roses by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Orange Kiss White Roses by Nancy Medina 14X14 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Orange Kiss White Roses is based on one of my mother's vases, and a nice big juicy orange she shared with me over the weekend while I was visiting her farm in East Texas. Studio Director AnnieBee always enjoys our girls' weekends at the farm with Mom, it's that special time when she has me all to herself, and does not have to share with anyone. And she's also well aware there are bound to be extra snacks and goodies thrown into the mix, not to mention cousin Abby the Schnauzer's basket of toys that need distributing throughout the living room....much to cousin Abby's consternation.

Hill Country Roses and Sunflowers and a Hill Country Workshop by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Hill Country Sunflowers and Roses by Nancy Medina Fredericksburg, Texas, class demo 16X20 Oil on Linen Board Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Hill Country Sunflowers and Roses was my demo painting for my students during my Texas Hill Country workshop this past weekend. The Fredericksburg, Texas grocery store always has a top notch selection of flowers, so we painted quite a variety of blossoms from the studio school on the resort overlooking log cabins and trees for miles around. It was like a slice of heaven right outside the door! My next workshop is on July 21 in Dallas and is already full with a waiting list, so it looks like I'll have to make the sacrifice and go shopping at Central Market *sound of harps* for scads of gorgeous blossoms again this week!  Take a peek at my art blog to see a preview of my newest container garden which is almost finished. I thought it only fitting you should also see the li...
