SOLD ~ Rosy Roses and Goodbye Morning Commute by Texas Floer Artist Nancy Medina

Rosy Sunday Red Rose by Nancy Medina SOLD 8X10 Oil on Archival Panel Purchase Information Nancy Medina Web Site Flower Painting Workshops Follow Me on Facebook Rosy Sunday Red Rose is an original small work, drying in Flower Mound Studio. This morning when I woke up, I had an instant flash of what the morning would bring: a rush hour Dallas commute, a communal coffeepot, sitting at a metal desk all day, and the bliss of budget spreadsheets. I began to hyperventilate. Then it occurred to me, no more corporate life! I'm still not quite used to being a full time artist, but this nice short-term memory of mine allows me moment after moment of realization and joy, all over again, ad infinitum!  Now I pad into Flower Mound Studio in my flip flops and pink robe, take a peek at my painting from the previous day, and line up the paintings that need to ship that morning. This morning paintings shipped to Oregon, Florida, Maine and New Zealand, and I realized i...

Red Red Rose and My Mother the Poet by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Red Red Rose by Nancy Medina 10X10 Oil on Gallery Wrap Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site My Art Newsletter My mother began writing poetry when we were toddlers. She collected her poems in a large spiralbound notebook over the years. By the time we were in high school, she had been published in several anthologies and had won some awards for her writings. She did not tell us she wrote poetry, or show us her work, until I was 22 years old. She wrote a poem about me once, and it told of a kitten who grew up and whom she could no longer protect from the world. Read more... Red Roses on the easel

Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site A Million Kisses Red Roses is the newest work in Flower Mound Studio, as the days move closer to the the time of year I love most. I wanted to go a bit overboard with the color on this painting, break a few rules, and splash some paint around just for the sheer joy of it. I paint every day not just because it's good for my work, but because life is short and you should spend it doing something you feel absolutely passionate about.  I also have a trusty little helper who can always be relied upon to give me a giggle. Take a peek at my blog to see this painting step by step, and to to see one of Annie's funniest moments...

Red Roses and a Hill Country Flower Painting Workshop by Texas Artist Nancy Medina

Red Roses of Fredericksburg by Nancy Medina 8X10 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Nancy Medina Art Blog Red roses, sunflowers, white roses and daisies were blooming in my Fredericksburg, Texas workshop this weekend in the Hill Country. In addition to dozens of flowers, we painted clear blue glass vases and patterned white and blue china vases, and sampled cheese and cherry kolaches made fresh each morning . A drenching rain came down at the end of our last class, and in an area that has suffered massive drought for over three years, this was a rare gift. I watched shopkeepers step outside their doors and stretch their hands into the rain, and every one was smiling. I love teaching in Fredericksburg, it has not lost that small town feeling. It's far enough off the beaten path to have avoided the sprawl that has hit so much of Texas. If you're ever in the area, stop in to The Good Art Compan...
