Indian Paintbrush Painting by Niki Gulley

"Texas Treats IV" ©2012 Niki Gulley 12" x 12" textured mixed media on canvas I painted this Indian Paintbrush canvas with extremely thick paint and palette knife. The resulting image is loaded with texture, color and energy! I've painted it on 1 and 1/2 inch deep stretcher bars, with the image continuing around the edges so that it can be hung as is frameless for a contemporary look.  This Texas wildflower image looks great hung alone to brighten up a little spot, or in a grouping with a bluebonnet painting or some of my sunflower scenes. Hang them horizontally, vertically, on a diagonal or stacked. Take a look at  nikigulley.com/the-art/textured-oils/  to find complimentary companion pieces. "Morning Break" by Kyle Wood

"Morning Break" - 22" x 28" Oil on Canvas "Morning Break" is another one of my paintings inspired from all the trips that I have taken over the years through the Texas Hill Country. The Hill Country region of Texas is such a serene and relaxing area to visit. During many Spring Seasons, when Fall & Winter moisture has been abundant, the fields can become quite colorful. For this painting, I chose to do an early morning scene with the sun peaking out behind the clouds. Complementary colors are being used quite frequently here with lots of purples next to yellows and oranges next to blues. I mixed in some indian paintbrushes, which are typically reddish-orange in color with the bluebonnets for more color variation. The water in the ruts of the road suggest that is has just rained. The clouds are beginning to break away so that the sun can shine down into the valley and the field of vibrant wildflowers. What a wonderful place to be on a spring morning. T...
