"Lorie" by Nathalie Kelley

I saw "Lorie" at a craft show. When I saw her hat (not cowboy) and her sweet smile I knew I wanted to paint her. I needed to catch just the right light, so we stepped to the door which just happily happened to be red. YeeHaw! And her red plaid shirt, perfect!!! This is day 3 of the 30 paintings in 30 days hosted by Leslie Saeta. Watercolor -11"x15" on Arches paper.

"Tom Orsak" - Nathalie Kelley, watercolor

Day 15 - 30 in 30 Days - Dragonfly Fly by Nathalie Kelley - Mixed Media

Dragonfly Fly 6"X9" Mixed Media on Arches paper   I like this better now. It is more purple than  the photo shows. Shades of purples, blues and greens. Here's what I did. I have some paper towels that I have saved from my silk dying projects. They have some beautiful mingled colors.   I used a plastic doily for the wing design. I sprayed acrylic on  the back (it's flat) and used it like a stamp.   I used Collage Podge to adhere the torn pieces of paper towel  and a permanent marker for the wing outlines.      Little touches of Golden brand interference  iridescent paint on the wings and body. I wish you could see the soft shimmer.     I stenciled "FLY" and added highlights and shadows with oil pastels. Doodles around the edges. All done. This is Day 15 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days hosted by Leslie Saeta. To see more of my art visit My Website My Blog T...

Sunflower Study - Watercolor - Nathalie Kelley

This is a little watercolor study I did. It is 5" X 7". The sky was actually that clear and brilliant blue. I love sunflowers! I love painting them, photographing them, picking them, looking at them, and I even like eating their seeds! Yum! Several years ago when I was clowning, my persona was "Sunny". I was a sunflower clown. If I can find a photo I will share that with you. I guess my favorite thing about sunflowers besides their happy color and easy to paint shapes is the fact that they face the sun. There are sunflower fields between here and Lubbock and it is so fun to see the whole field with the heads of the sunflowers turned to face the sun. Hebrews 12:2  Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

Yellow Rose - Nathalie Kelley

Watercolor 5"X7" The sweet little yellow rose is from one of our rose bushes. Everything is so dry and dull around here during this season. I painted it as a reminder that spring is just around the corner. Each season has it's purpose, even the dry, dull times. To purchase visit Nathalie's Blog

Canning Season - Nathalie Kelley

Canning Season   8" X 10" Watercolor Sold My Grandma made the best pear preserves during  "Canning Season".  She never used fancy, tender, store bought pears.  She always had pear trees in her yard  and the pears were kind of like her –  old fashioned, home grown, and tough but oh so sweet.  There was always a jar of her famous preserves on her table.  Pear preserves, warm biscuits, and melting butter, yum!  What memories!I wasn’t prepared went she left  and took her recipe to heaven with her.  Now, I just savor the memory.  Thanks, Grandma!!!
