This week's challenge at  Daily Paintworks  was submitted by  Claudia Hammer , the Hand Challenge.  I wanted to keep it loose, but I find that difficult when painting 3"x3" so I think I fussed with these hands a bit too much.  I'm still satisfied with how they turned out.  I may do this again on a larger support.  It was a great learning tool!

This week's challenge on  Daily Paintworks  is to paint your virtual vacation from Google Street View and was suggested by   Layne Cook .  I chose Norway and found an interesting street with shadow and light patterns.  I didn't intend to paint just flat shapes, but, well it gradually happened.  I like the abstract quality that emerged.

This was painted for the Daily Paintworks Challenge suggested by  Jo MacKenzie .  Her challenge was to paint an emotion.  This young man appeared to be sad and resigned to the fact that he was arrested.  Thanks, Jo!  This was a good challenge. I enjoyed going through some of my photographs from last year's trip to New York and then painting this young woman. I wanted to get the light that struck her blonde hair that was blowing in a strong wind and I think I succeeded. Her focus was on her phone and not on anything going on around her. She was just one of many interesting people that I saw and had the opportunity to photograph. Please go to DPW and have some fun with this week's challenge! $65.00 free shipping in US

I've attempted cars - well, one car - once before and failed miserably. Although this is not what I would like it to be, I am fairly pleased with this. It was about my third attempt. Click HERE to view the challenge. There are some spectacular entries. I'm looking forward to each challenge in the future. Thanks Carol! This is going to be fun!
