This pastel is done on black velour paper. I rarely use black paper, although the drama of it speaks for itself. However, it is extremely difficult to get the lights and darks to read on this surface, especially with VELOUR PAPER. The subject is of Lorikeets or as they are called in Australia, LORRIES.. Little imps which fly all over the eastern regions of Australia and are forever present in the treetops, calling to one another. The colors are truly amazing! I hope I did them justice here.
