Lemons and Flow Blue 14" x 18" oil on linen I'm preparing for a demo tomorrow night, February 3, in Dallas, Texas . So, I thought it might be fun to share some photos showing one of the types of starts I like to use. For my latest painting, I covered the linen in a neutral tone and began to block in some shapes. In the first few strokes, I could immediately see that I had the placement of the pitcher all wrong in the composition. So, I wiped the block in back into tone and began again...voila, fresh start. First block in attempt Block in - take 2.....ahhhhh, much better! Then I began to add color. I started with the colors that I was most certain of and that I wanted to have the most chroma. Color block in start I had to wipe out the tone before laying down the color for the lemons to keep the yellow looking fresh and clean (this technique can only be done on oil primed surfaces.)
