"Purple Shadows" from the Willow City Loop by Niki Gulley

"Purple Shadows"  ©2020 Niki Gulley  •  9" x 12" palette knife oil painting I spent a couple of days this spring on the Willow City Loop in the Texas Hill country to paint Bluebonnets, but as the heat got to me one day, I found this cool spot in the shade along the rivers edge. I love the setting and the movement of the shadows. Texas Landscape

© AnnHoffpauir   A little piece of the Texas landscape I painted in the area of Austin, Tx.  It was late spring and the  flowers were just about through blooming.  It was a bright blue sky and getting hot.  I finished up on the painting with a few more sky holes, packed it up and headed back to the studio...to cool off with a tall glass of iced tea. http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

"Joyous Evening" by Kyle Wood

"Joyous Evening" by Kyle Wood 2.5" x 3.5" Oil on Canvas Here is a recent miniature oil painting of mine.  I enjoy painting in the miniature format, because there quick and take less time to complete.  Often, I will do miniature painting first to get the design and colors worked out, before proceeding to a larger painting. The smaller thumbnail painting helps me see, if the design/layout will work on a larger scale.  Enjoy! To see more miniatures and other works, please visit me at:  www.kwoodfineart.com . Also, I handful of this gems available for sale through The Dutch Art Gallery.

Jimmy Longacre_subjective impressionist landscape paintings_WINTER CREEK

A break from my urbanization to my old country ways.   :) This is "stick season" out there, so I like to push things a bit. I needed a change from my urban series, so I headed down one of the roads out here in the Texas hill country.  I have to be careful because if I go out without my painter-vision working I don't see anything worth painting!  Everything seems to be a couple of shades of wheat, olive and gray.  Once I pick up on a subtle clue from the landscape color, I like to select a  premixed color plan  and see how I can enhance the effect using a very limited palette.  This one was done with Yellow Ochre, Quinacradone Magenta, Manganese Violet, Cobalt Blue, Cerulean Blue, Black and White. "Winter Medley" by Kyle Wood

"Winter Medley" by Kyle Wood 5" x 7" Oil on Canvas Paper Sometimes when I paint a landscape that I like, I will take the same scene and repaint it in a different light, mood, alter the colors, and or season.  This is a good way to create a series of paintings that tie together as unified body of work.  It is sort like design multiplication or probability outcomes. Basically, I am taking a composition and creating multiple solutions to same the problem.  Learning to work and think in terms of creating multiple solutions is something that I learned, while obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design at The University of Texas of Arlington.  Graphic designers or Commercial artists have to learn how to take an idea and present to a client at least three solutions. Usually, each solution is quite different.  In some cases like labels for packaging or signage, you want the imagery and text be similar in structure and design.  This is what they c...

"Hill Country Treasures" by Kyle Wood

SOLD "Hill Country Treasures" by Kyle Wood 11" x 14" Oil on Canvas What a great day I had at The Dutch Art Gallery on Saturday, May 18th!  I was scheduled to do a oil painting demo and had no idea what kind of traffic we were going to have.  Luck would have it, that a true value hardware store in the same shopping center as the Gallery was having a grand opening celebration.  The parking lot was jamb with cars and we managed to draw in some first time visitors to the Gallery. This painting was placed in a silent auction and was sold to the highest bidder.  Also, I managed to sell five other paintings of mine.  Two of them were miniatures that I had brought in and they sold fairly quickly.  Those who came into the gallery, got to watch me paint and I received many compliments on my work. Overall, it was quite an eventful, a rare treat to sell multiple works in one day! To see more of my work, please visit my website at www.kwoodfineart.com...

"Spring Radiance" by Kyle Wood

"Spring Radiance" 40" x 52" Oil on Gallery Wrap Panels Commission Piece Here is my latest oil painting that I have been working on for several weeks now.  This is a piece that I was commissioned to do for a client through The Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas.  The client loved the colors in one of my existing pieces at the gallery and wanted me to paint a larger painting. We both met and talked and decided to paint a triptych on gallery wrap panels.  Before finalizing the design, I did a couple of sketches and few color studies (One in Spring Colors and the other in Fall).  The client liked the Spring Colors, so this is what we ended up painting!  Overall, the painting was fun and it was great experience getting to do a commission.  Enjoy! Spring Promise White Roses and a Hill Country Workshop by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Spring Promise Roses by Nancy Medina 12X12 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Nancy Medina Web Site Spring Promise Roses is a new small work in the studio, as I deconstruct the large flower setup on my rubber maid roller cart, the wonderful new studio accessory I've been enjoying since the hubby found it on clearance at Office Max last weekend. I had to remove the sunflowers for a special commission I've begun of hydrangeas and white roses, so I'm going to treat myself to a trip to Central Market in the morning for fresh flowers! They don't allow photography in Central Market, so I can't share that trip with you, but their flower market is the closest thing to visiting the Dallas Arboretum you can get without driving to the actual gardens themselves (which will be quite packed this weekend, in fact, because of the Chihuly exhibit!). So we'll avoid the real gardens and go to the store bought ones. I can hardly wait to see ...

New Bluebonnet and Indian Paintbrush Painting by Niki Gulley

"Spring's Glory, Texas Hill Country" ©2012 Niki Gulley 48" x 30" textured painting on wrap around canvas was inspired by a recent trip to the Texas Hill Country. This spring conditions were perfect, and the bluebonnets were amazing! While we were near Fredericksburg, we took a scenic drive along the Willow City Look and as we approached the top of a hill about half way around, we were greeted by this gorgeous view of the rolling hills and bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush in full bloom. Then, to top it off the sun was setting in the distance casting its golden glow and backlighting the wildflowers. I had to capture the magical moment, enhancing the kaleidoscope of colors in the sky and along the ground. Arranging clouds, the road and rows of bluebonnets in rhythmic sweeping shapes, create a harmonious landscape that flows with light, texture and color, and suggest a feeling of optimism about what's to come. If you're in the Dallas th...

Joy Sunflower Painting Demo from My Texas Hill Country Workshop by Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Joy Sunflowers and Lemons by Nancy Medina 16X20 Oil on Linen Board Demo for my April 28 workshop My Web Site My Workshops Joy Sunflowers and Lemons was one of the demo paintings completed during my workshop last weekend in the Texas Hill Country. I had a wonderful, talented class of exactly one dozen ladies who joined me at the Baron Creekside Resort school. Our classroom had big windows on both sides and high ceilings. In the mornings we kept the doors open to let the cool breezes in while we had our donuts and got our paints prepared. I was really lucky that to have this beautiful blue vase and a great selection of flowers from the HEB grocery store in town *sound of harps*, Carlos' absolute favorite place to shop. At the end of class this painting went home with my student and painty pal J'Lynn from North Texas. Here's Miss J'Lynn posing pretty with her blossoms. J'Lynn looks innocent doesn't she, but you should know that she is prett...
