What ! - Titmouse

&;copy AnnHoffpauir I saw this little Titmouse in a shrub near my back porch.  I was able to snap this picture of him with this look of surprise on its face before it flew off.  I am painting small works of art using fewer details. http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Bye, Bye Birdie by Kay Wyne

Bye, Bye, Birdie 8" x 8" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel Contemporary Abstract Palette Knife Painting Yesterday I was playing around with some left-over paints and I wanted use my favorite palette knife (#24).  I had plenty of hot pinks, reds, cad orange, and cad yellow to start with.  There are three shades of Gamblin's Portland Greys....light, medium and dark....so had those to mix with some blues and violets for the birds.  I used some impasto for the thick applications so that it would dry faster.  This little 8" x 8" is my first birdie palette knife painting.  It was fun!  I had a great day yesterday, selling two paintings.  Contact  ME  for purchasing information.  This little panel would look great propped up on an easel.  This is day #8 of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge.  Thanks, Kay

"I Got This, Ma!" - original watercolor

I Got This, Ma! by Debbie Cannatella 30"x22" transparent watercolor (38"x30" FR) I hadn't planned on devoting much of these past two years on painting aviary art.  Birds were never my "thing" and I never wanted to turn into an "old bird lady" or be labeled as such. But the glorious thing about living in Corpus Christi is it being an intersection of two major flyways during migration time and I have grown to love bird watching. I happened upon these cattle egrets just after hatching season when hundreds of babies were beginning to fledge... mowhawks and all. This is one of a series of wildlife paintings that will be in a new one-woman solo exhibition "The Natural World" in the Kuchera Gallery at the Art Center of Corpus Christi, Texas for the month of November 2013. To order limited edition giclee prints, see my Prints page. For more works on paper see my website   or contact me through my gallery at Studio C Gallery...

"BUHO DE ORO" - original watercolor

BUHO DE ORO by Debbie Cannatella 30"x22" transparent watercolor (38"x30" FR) This golden barn owl was so compelling I had to put it on paper.  I saw him in an exhibit at a Falconer's show in a Renaissance Festival. It was selected by the curator for the invitation cover for my upcoming exhibition. It can be ordered in a limited edition giclee print on my website here . "Waiting Room" - original watercolor

WAITING ROOM by Debbie Cannatella 22"x30" transparent watercolor (30"x38" FR) Scarlet Ibis have brilliant color, which lured me into painting these birds. A Little Birdie Told Me, Too by Pamela Blaies

A Little Birdie Told Me, Too 6" x 6" oil on linen panel Petite Painting Project #5 - I painted my little springtime friend again. This time with some yellow Forsythia cuttings. I only get a short time to enjoy the bright, yellow blooms in early spring, but what a display! They chase my winter blues away. I love to share my art and inspiration. Chickadee Migration

15x30 watercolor on Fabriano hot press paper that was coated with heavy gel medium. Three 6" squares were blocked off and covered. After stamping into the gel, I let it dry, then drew shapes and wrote words 'chickadee migration', covered all with blue and gold watercolor, then wiped off all paint. Next I carved out tree branches and limbs. Into the middle square I painted a bird's nest with eggs and let the painting tell me what it needed. A black crow appeared in the left square and far right a speckled leaf that uses repetition along with the eggs.

"When Your Smilin" by Leada Wood, Artist of Texas

"When Your Smilin' " by Leada Wood© www.leadawood.com/blog I always loved the way Ostrich looked...so we got a couple of  birds . Those were the orneriest, hungriest birds you can imagine! Those two birds could eat 20 pounds of corn a day! Needless to say we didn't keep them very long. We no longer have ostrich but I still like to paint them and their comical faces make me smile...I hope this one brings a smile your way.
