Blue Iris Lily Garden by Nancy Medina 15X30 Oil on Deep Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Check out My New Video Here! Flower Painting Workshops My Web Site Follow Me on Facebook Sign Up for My Art Newsletter! My iris garden produced yellow, white, purple and pale blue flowers this morning. This sudden proliferation of profuse color has me just a bit worried that it will be a short bloom season. Rather than see this as the glass half empty garden, I'm going to believe this will be the best iris season ever in the gardens of Flower Mound Studio! Blue Iris Lily Garden is based on those blooms, and one of over 100 new paintings I'll have on display at Dallas Arboretum Artscape April 26-27. I can't believe it's almost here, holy cow I have to make some tags and labels and decide what color apron to wear that day. So much to do, so many flowers to paint, so little...

Stargazers and Pear by Nancy Medina SOLD 16X12 Oil on Archival Panel Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Follow Me on Facebook Stargazers were on sale at the grocery store flower market day before yesterday for $2 a bunch. Each bunch had three bundles of stems, and each stem had half a dozen flowers. I'll let you imagine what my house smells like right now! Then I found this very good looking pear. I'm sure the checker at the counter added one more little token to the pile of crazy chips she automatically thinks of when she sees me trundling up her line with flowers instead of groceries. Here I was with flowers, chocolate, and one fat pear. A pear that is looking extremely yummy to me right now, so I had better wash up and leave the studio before the pear faces a sad demise... The studio model pear rolls over!

Dreamstar Stargazer Lilies by Nancy Medina 14X14 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site The studio is smelling fragrant this evening, and not just because I have pugs lying about on pillows hither and yon. The stargazers beckoned in the grocery store this morning, so I shifted gears to pinks and gave the red geraniums the day off! This has been a banner week for art here in Flower Mound Studio. I received word that my painting, Dinner Date Daisies and Sunflowers, won best of show for the Annual Shining Stars Art Show and Benefit. I'm so honored to have won! Stargazer Studio models take a bow!

"Red Lily" by Carol Peterson ( carolpeterson@suddenlink.net ) 11" x 15" watercolor $250.00 I photographed this lily in Northern Minnesota.  I have never seen a lily with ruffled petals before but this red lily had ruffled edges.  I didn't like the underpainting in the background of this flower so I painted gouache over the background.  I like the contrast of the flat gouache against the flower's transparent watercolor.
