As the River Turns

Pastel on paper 11 x 14 Website: Caroline Ratliff.com

Gray Day Study by Sheri Jones

Gray Day Study by Sheri Jones 9 x 12 oil on Raymar canvas panel I painted this at a Jill Carver plein air workshop in Waxahachie, Texas. She is a skilled and talented teacher. She packs a lot of information in her workshops. If you ever get a chance to take from her I would jump at it. The main lesson on this day was recognizing and applying the right value. The gray grain towers against the gray day was perfect for this. Sheri@sheriart.net sheriart.net sheriart.blogspot.com

Bluebonnets and Cactus by Sheri Jones

BlueBonnets and Cactus 16 x 8 oil on Raymar canvas panel I know the bluebonnets aren't blooming yet, but know they are coming. The weather has been beautiful recently and Spring is right around the corner. I am getting excited about participating in the Paint the Town Paint Out April 15 - 17th. The area has a wealth of inspiration for the plein air painter. The wildflowers should be in full bloom and beautiful. This painting is available for purchase. $150.00 Sheri@sheriart.net sheriart.net sheriart.blogspot.com

Cluster of Cedars by Sheri Jones

Cluster of Cedars by Sheri Jones 10 x 8 oil on canvas This was created plein air from a location outside Acton Nature Center, Acton, Texas. My painting buddy, Jill Randall went to paint a sunset, but arrived early enough to paint one before. I was attracted to the bright light and deep shadows the late day sun did to the Cedar trees. Finding a place to park the car and stand with a good view is a challenge. We found an old abandoned restaurant on top of the hill that was perfect for us. This painting is available for purchase.$100.00 Sheri@sheriart.net Sheriart.net sheriart.blogspot.com

Colorado Landscape by Kay Wyne

Colorado Landscape Oil on Linen 12" x 16" This painting was inspired by a photo that my husband took about fifteen years ago when he went to New Mexico and Colorado on a fishing trip. The rugged landscape of Colorado is so beautiful that I had to paint it. It will be hanging at The Dutch Art Gallery once it is dry. Contact Kay at kay@kwyne.com or 214-532-0325.

Twilight Sail, Chicago pastel by Niki Gulley

"Twilight Sail" ©2010 Niki Gulley pastel • 8" x 10" The idea for Twilight Sail came from taking a river boat cruise on Lake Michigan just as the sun was starting to set behind the Chicago skyline. The buildings became slightly silouetted and the sunlight created a beautiful shimmer on the water's surface that I had to capture. If you'd like to see this pastel in person and you're in Chicago this weekend, stop by my booth at the Wells Street Art Festival, chicagoevents.com/event.cfm?eid=141 . Or, e-mail me at Niki@NikiGulley.com for more information. NikiGulley.com
