Trail Shadows..Watercolor..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I am sorry I have not posted in a few days, I was attending a fun workshop with Mary Ann Beckwith..  I think there will be a few abstracts coming up in my future posts.. She LOVES color as do I, and I was enthralled with our daily fun! I have a lot of unfinished pieces I need to complete, so keep an eye out.. However, this painting was one I had almost finished prior to that workshop, and I just made a few changes on it today ready to post. It's a watercolor on Arches paper unframed. 9" x 24" $325 plus S/H Prints of this image are also available through Fine Art America: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/trail-shadows-rae-andrews.html?newartwork=true Thanks for visiting.. Perfect Walk..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

Just finished this one. Sooo cozy in my studio with all the rain we are having, perfect to paint! The scene is one I took a photo of while on my morning walk in Austin. I love this greenbelt area, so much to see. Of course I tend to romanticize my colors.  In actual fact they were all pretty green on the actual day, so this is with the 'Rae' touch. :)) This is a pastel on Sennelier sanded paper and is unframed 5.5" x 7.25"  $75 Plus S/H Prints are also available through Fine art America: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/perfect-walk-rae-andrews.html?newartwork=true Rae conducts workshops and demonstrations of her many techniques . She uses all media. Please contact her through this blog, or via her website at: www.raeandrews.com Thanks for visiting..

"Kayak Launch" - Thaw Malin iii

"Kayak Launch", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. In summer, if it's really hot, I'll take an evening swim here. In winter it is a nice viewing spot to watch the sun set just beyond the point. It's always great to paint here… If you'd like to purchase, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 US. Subscribe to my "New Paintings" mailing list. Atlantic Drive - Thaw Malin iii

"Atlantic Drive", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. Locating this bridge over the Herring Creek, I found the best vantage point and began work. It was a cheery place to paint. A breeze crept in at dusk and the day ended on a raw note. I was cold to the bone even though I had on my winter jacket and hood. I turned the heat way up as I drove back toward town... Pond Path - Thaw Malin iii

"Pond Path", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. I scouted this spot weeks ago, but hadn't found a good and sunny day to come back until now. This is along the edge of a finger of Tisbury Great Pond at Sepiessa in West Tisbury... If you'd like to purchase, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 US. Wetland Path - Thaw Malin iii

"Wetland Path", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. At most locations where I find myself painting I also do a bit of scouting for the setting of my next piece. While I was working last week in the blueberry grounds, I followed the through path down hill into the glades beside a stream. It may have been the Tiasquam River, but I am not certain. The path is well maintained and had this short passage over a wet area before a foot bridge. Taking a quick snapshot to refresh my memory later in the studio, I liked the image enough to go back and create this work. I tried some Skin So Soft to ward off the multitude of mosquitoes and came home smiling, happy but odiferous... If you'd like to purchase, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 US. Equilibrium - Thaw Malin iii

"Equilibrium", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. Out in the woods at dusk, there comes a moment when the light and dark are at equilibrium. It is still possible to make out the larger forms and shapes, but the dimmer light and colors of a winter wood lot leave the smaller details indistinguishable one from another... From The Top - Thaw Malin iii

"From The Top", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. I began today thinking of a painting in the woods. Maybe a tree or stonewall would do. I wandered down paths and byways scouting. Each time I came to a high spot, there was a great view of this beach, but from afar. I finally had to give in and drive down to the beach and walk up this path. And, well, this is what I saw: hazy sunset and dropping temperature as an inclement weather front floated in... Hedgeley Dene Gardens - Thaw Malin iii

"Hedgeley Dene Gardens", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. Back in Melbourne today and I found this wonderful public garden close to my brother's in which to paint. Many dog walkers and curious children came by as I worked. But it wasn't until my favorite Bull Terrier, Axle, came by with his master, Billy, my brother's housemate, that I knew it was time for dinner... Old Country Road - Thaw Malin iii

"Old Country Road", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. A quiet evening interlude, out of wind and sun, yet full of fall coloring. I drove past/through it twice before recognizing its potential. With autumn colors at their peak, it was difficult to make a single choice... Polly Hill Fall - Thaw Malin iii

"Polly Hill Fall", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. I had other ideas for today's daily painting, but then again, so did the sun with its late season angle. I had scouted this earlier in the day for a future painting but came back again for today's. I had been alerted that the 35 year old Magnolia Grandiflora, which Polly, Polly Hill Arboretum , had planted in the corner between the barn and shed in my painting, was taken down to be better able to repair the barn. It had surely outlived it's place of honor there as it was hard to open the shed door much less the barn door without walking into a branch or two. Polly would have been happy to see the space opened up once more. It had been exceedingly difficult for anyone to do a painting of the barn the way the tree had covered over half of the front... A Goodbye - Thaw Malin iii

"A Goodbye", this is a small painting, 6" x 8", oil on canvas panel. An artist friend treated me to a new, private location from which to paint. It was fun to see old favorite views from a different angle/perspective. However, it was the vanishing sailboat which drew me to paint this view. It is not often I may find a dune with a path through it and a sail off in the distance. Nor is it often, in the summer season, when there is a beach without a multitude of people upon it. I was grateful for the quiet... If you'd like to purchase, please click Go to my Auction, bidding starts at $100.00 US. Subscribe to my "New Paintings" mailing list. Road less Traveled

"Road less Traveled" ©2009 Niki Gulley 11" x 14" oil painting Towards the end of our trip to Colorado, snowfall had come early causing all of the autumn foliage to drift to the ground. I liked the way the bare tree limbs tangled together in the misty distance, set against the vivid fallen leaves in the foreground. What surprises lay in wait for us around the next corner?
