"If a tree Falls" Textured Oil Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

"Along the Shoreline II" ©2022 Niki Gulley 24" x 18" Textured oil painting I always love going to Turtle Creek, the natural oasis the city has created in the middle of Dallas. This painting was inspired from a time when you could actually climb down the rocks and enjoy the beautiful stream from below, being completely isolated from city noise and housing. I was drawn to these large abstract sweeping patterns of the water and land meeting with just a trickle of light illuminating the foliage in the distance and one lone trunk that has fallen. "Along the Shoreline" by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Along the Shoreline” ©2021 Niki Gulley 14" x 18” textured oil painting on canvas Early on a fall morning the sun breaks softly through leafy branches and casts early autumn’s palette across the creek. Silent water is ruffled by a gentle breeze. Arching over, bending into the quiet waters, a tree arches into the scene – encompassing, embracing. This painting captures the dreamy reflections and tranquil landscape of one of my favorite spots to paint on location near my home. It is painted in the traditional plein air oil manner, incorporating some heavy texture with palette knife. "Through the Keyhole" Palette Knife Oil Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Through the Keyhole” ©2021 Niki Gulley 20” x 16” textured oil painting I love the twisting, textured limbs of old oak trees, and the way these two branches formed a keyhole view of the forest beyond was fascinating. Arching the branches upward suggests a touch of whimsey like climbing a tree when you’re a kid. Loaded with texture and surprising pops of color, I hope you, too, are transported to an enchanted place filled with hope and wonder. A Wandering..Watercolor..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I just finished this one. It's of the river area near my home. I have done several plein air paintings of it. This one however, I painted in the studio today, from my photograph.  Green on green is beautiful in nature, but in a painting, it tends to be a bit much of the same thing for me.   I usually play with complimentary colors, such as the orange/red family and even some blue/mauve colors as small accents amongst the green. I hope you like this one. For me, it was very meditative to paint. This image measures 16" x 20" unframed  $550 plus S/H Prints of this image available through Fine Art America: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/a-wandering-rae-andrews.html?newartwork=true Rae paints and teaches in all media.  For more info on her workshops please contact her through this blog or her website raeandrews.com Thanks for visiting..

Portofino Drift..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

Finally finished this one.. Pastel on red Sennelier paper. I am a part of a pastel presentation for Austin Pastel Society on Sunday 28th October  (approx. 3.30-4.30 pm) at Precision Camera in Austin. Please come along if you want to see a fun demonstration by 5 artists. You would be most welcome. We have a silent auction at the end of each work, and the money raised goes into our scholarship fund. This presentation is called a PAINT AROUND where all five artists begin on their own artwork for first ten minutes, then it is passed around to the next artist for them to do another ten minutes pastelling  on it.  The demo lasts one hour with the artwork ending up in front of the original artist, for them to 'tweak' what the other artists have done to their work. Great fun! The above pastel painting is me getting in readiness for this presentation. This image measures 16" x 20" unframed  $500 plus S/H Prints are also available through...

First of all let me apologize for my absence and lack of posting of late. I had a family health crisis and needed to take some time away from my painting. A Peace Beyond..Pastel..Texas Artist Rae Andrews

I just finished this one, which I began yesterday afternoon.  It is on a mystery paper I had in my file drawer so don't ask what it is..:((  It is was a cream sanded paper though however not one I was familiar with. The size of this image is 19.5" x 25.5 " unframed. My reference was a lily pond photo I took while in France last May. The fish I actually made up. The magically appeared so voila! AS is my general practice I nudged color in Photoshop, although this image was pretty colorful to begin with I have to say. $550 plus S/ Prints of this image are also available through Fine Art America: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/a-peace-beyond-rae-andrews.html?newartwork=true Thanks for visiting.. Lowtide, Bayview.. Watercolor..Texas Artis.. Rae. Andrews

Just finished this one, quite enjoying my watercolor escape lately. This image is really out of my head, I wanted to reflect the trees a little in the lowtide waters, and the rocks came later.                          This image is 18" x 24" unframed and is on Arches Cold Pressed paper.                                                                   $525 Plus S/H                           ...

Just Turning..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

JUST TURNING is a scene from the area of Hamilton Pool here in Texas, the river is the Pedernales. I love this area, so full of things to paint. I used Photoshop to embellish and vamp up my colors with this one, something I do a fair bit.. This image is done on a mauve colored Canson TOUCH paper, not one of my favorites I have to admit, just not enough 'tooth' to it for my style of painting. Image size is 22" x 28" unframed $525 plus S/H Prints of this image are also available through  Fine Art America: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/just-turning-rae-andrews.html?newartwork=true Thanks for visiting.. Crescendo..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

Another of these different shaped formats, I love to challenge myself with something out of the norm. This pastel is all about the sky as was the last one I posted, and completely made up (again), as with the last post.                                           The substrate is Sennelier sanded paper.                                                 Image size is 5.25" x 12" unframed                            ...
