"If a tree Falls" Textured Oil Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

"Along the Shoreline II" ©2022 Niki Gulley 24" x 18" Textured oil painting I always love going to Turtle Creek, the natural oasis the city has created in the middle of Dallas. This painting was inspired from a time when you could actually climb down the rocks and enjoy the beautiful stream from below, being completely isolated from city noise and housing. I was drawn to these large abstract sweeping patterns of the water and land meeting with just a trickle of light illuminating the foliage in the distance and one lone trunk that has fallen. "Along the Shoreline" by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Along the Shoreline” ©2021 Niki Gulley 14" x 18” textured oil painting on canvas Early on a fall morning the sun breaks softly through leafy branches and casts early autumn’s palette across the creek. Silent water is ruffled by a gentle breeze. Arching over, bending into the quiet waters, a tree arches into the scene – encompassing, embracing. This painting captures the dreamy reflections and tranquil landscape of one of my favorite spots to paint on location near my home. It is painted in the traditional plein air oil manner, incorporating some heavy texture with palette knife. "Through the Keyhole" Palette Knife Oil Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Through the Keyhole” ©2021 Niki Gulley 20” x 16” textured oil painting I love the twisting, textured limbs of old oak trees, and the way these two branches formed a keyhole view of the forest beyond was fascinating. Arching the branches upward suggests a touch of whimsey like climbing a tree when you’re a kid. Loaded with texture and surprising pops of color, I hope you, too, are transported to an enchanted place filled with hope and wonder. "Autumn Symphony" pastel by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Autumn Symphony” ©2014 Niki Gulley Pastel • 24” x 36” This is a quiet, protected creek by our house that I like escaping to when I need a break from city life. On this perfect autumn day, there was the gentlest of breezes rustling the leaves, the vibrant fall foliage was at its peak and the only sounds to be heard came from the trickling of the nearby waterfall and the birds’ sweet melodies. Moment of Reflection oil painting by Niki Gulley

"Moment of Reflection" ©2010 Niki Gulley 24" x 18" oil on canvas This is another one of my favorite spots in Dallas. Once you climb down the creek’s banks, you’re treated to the peaceful trickling sounds of the gently moving water and you’re surrounded by a canopy of trees, completely eliminating all signs of traffic and city life above. This location reminds me so much of the woods I’d hike through with my parents as a kid on a beautiful, crisp autumn day and all of those happy memories come flowing back. In “Moment of Reflection,” I wanted to share that joy and calm I feel being surrounded by nature.
