I love the Flamboyan of Puerto Rico. Known also as the Royal Poinciana plant, this brightly colored plant is found in many tropical places throughout the world. This painting was mostly created using a palette knife and thick paint. The texture is wonderful. I usually paint in acrylics, but I love the thickness and color of oils. El Flamboyan, or Flamboyant Tree, is noted for its fern-like leaves and flamboyant display of flowers. In many tropical parts of the world it is grown as an  ornamental tree  and in English it is given the name  Royal Poinciana  or  Flamboyant . It is also one of several trees known as  Flame tree .  I love trees, but this one by far is my favorite.  They are all over the island in Puerto Rico, which is where this painting was inspired.                                                    This painting is available at my  Etsy  shop. Flamboyan, in Spanish, or the Flamboyant Tree. Painted from a photograph taken on our trip to Puerto Rico in 2011. The Flamboyan Tree is just about everywhere on the island. The color is amazing.
