Lemon and Tea

Lemon and Tea Still Life 8 x 8 Oil on Panel Randall Cogburn Click to Purchase on  eBay Auction I'm definitely a tea drinker who likes lemon in his tea. Especially Iced Tea. Born and raised on it. I don't use lemon that often only if it's during the summer or eating out and organic is the one to get. Meyer lemons are great. This one I cut and halved the slice paired with a green tea. Below is the setup I used this time raised about foot and half from the normal perspective and a black sketch book as the background.

Lobster Bubble Bath by Texas Coastal Artist Kristine Kainer

Lobster Bubble Bath Copyright Kristine Kainer 2014 9x12 Oil on Gessobord Purchase Information What is more sinfully delectable than a lobster or more relaxing than a bubble bath?  How about the two combined? This painting is a definite departure for me.  Whimsical in nature, it combines my love of lobster (I'm anxiously awaiting our  Lobstergram  delivery next week for my daughter's fifteenth birthday here in land-locked Austin, TX) and the joys of a bubble bath in an old clawfoot tub in our 1928 farmhouse.   Available Paintings:   eBay Etsy Website Fine Art America Prints #texasartist #coastalart #beachart #lobster Kristine Kainer AOT, CFAI, AWA KristineKainer.com Gallery Links: UGallery Framer's Gallery

Sur Le Tableau

Sur Le Tableau Still Life 8 x 8 Oil on Panel Randall Cogburn Click to Purchase on  eBay Auction "Sur Le Tableau", French for 'On the Table'. One of the few french phrases I know from way back in French Class in college. This view is in my kitchen and it just caught my eye after using half a lemon I thought I'd not waste this half and use it as a subject to paint. Glad I did on this impulse and will do more in the future. The lights in the kitchen were off during the day and it kind of had a neat color going on and the abstract view appealed to me which I like and will try and introduce more into my paintings.  Frame Example King of Frame: Arroyo Gold

"Teal Mug & Lemon" Original Oil by Gwen Bell

© 2010 Gwen Bell 6 X 6 oil on canvas I played around with the placement of the lemon for a long time and finally settled on letting a bright moment show from behind the cup. I tried it in front but it interfered with the reflected pattern on the cup. Available through The Dutch Art Gallery during the Artists of Texas Show Where Texas Finds Its Color. Hide N Seek - Original Oil Painting by George De Chiara

Hide N Seek 5x7 inches Oil on Canvas Panel by George De Chiara When you look at the painting, the lemon in the bowl and the one behind it are hiding from the lemon in front. That's what I was thinking when I came up with the title for this one. I set this still life up to test myself in seeing values. The white bowl on the white piece of paper was a real challenge. The shadows are very strong, so it could have been easy to turn this into a black and white painting if I wasn't careful. In just about every painting I do, there is always one little area or brushstroke that seems to give me great satisfaction and I suspect most artists have this feeling about their work. Sometimes, it's the highlight laid down with one swipe of a loaded brush or the crisp edge from a pallet knife stoke. In this painting, it's the peppers on the side of the bowl. I believe I used 5 brushstrokes to paint all of them. I love it when things go like that! To read more about this pa...

Kristine Kainer: Pucker Up

Oil on canvas, 6x6-- $95--Purchase from Artist This is my third daily OIL painting. (Remember, I've done acrylics for over a year....) I liked this so much that I put it on my new business cards. The lemon looks like it is kissing the apple as they snuggle; hence, the title (and play on words regarding the sourness of the lemon).
