Red Gold Koi Pond Painting and a North Texas Workshop by Nancy Medina

Red Gold Koi Pond by Nancy Medina 24X30 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Check out My New Video Here! Flower Painting Workshops My Web Site Follow Me on Facebook Sign Up for My Art Newsletter! . I switched gears a bit today, painting bright orange and red koi, since I had piles of reds from two new dresses this week. As soon as I finished this painting, these little koi went directly into hibernation due to extreme cold in North Texas! It's been a super busy day, with a private lesson, a trip to the shipper to send off nine paintings to new homes, and packing up for my first workshop of the new year starting in North Texas Thursday. Put a little joy in your brush and join me, there are few seats left - I'll save you a donut! Detail from Red Gold Koi Pon d

"Koi Pond 10"

KOI POND 10 by Debbie Cannatella 26"x40" transparent watercolor (34"x48" FR) Painting on an oversized watercolor sheet for a 5-foot tall artist isn't always easy, especially when working on a large drafting table. It is an effort not to lay my clothing into the wet paper and this composition background has to move fast and loose. But, I enjoy painting koi, carp, and goldfish as much as I love watching them in a pond. This is one of a series of wildlife paintings that will be in a new one-woman solo exhibition "The Natural World" in the Kuchera Gallery at the Art Center of Corpus Christi, Texas for the month of November 2013. To order limited edition giclee prints, see my Prints page. For more works on paper see my website   or contact me through my gallery at Studio C Gallery .

"Koi" by Sharon Hodges

I love the feeling of movement in this painting...water moving over the rocks in the lower left, shimmering fish, the dabs of color.  This painting is done entirely with palette knives and it was a very tactile experience.  16 x 20 on gallery depth canvas, all edges painted.  Please contact me if you have interest in this painting, and please visit my website or blog to see more of my work.

Arboretum Koi by Kay Wyne

Arboretum Koi-SOLD! This painting was sold last Saturday at the artists' reception for the opening at The Wine Therapist. Thanks to all the people who attended. We had a very good turn-out. A very cute couple (Kevin and Colleen) purchased this contemporary oil painting. I hope to get to the studio today to start a couple of commissions. Have an artful day!!!

Koi Pond by Kay Wyne

Koi Pond 24" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas This is my first koi painting...I layered and layered the paint on, and had the gold/orange koi way too light. I was happy with the colors in the white/gray koi, but not the golden ones. I enjoyed the first day on this painting, and struggled with the days following. I know the water in the koi pond needs to be greener, but I don't like painting green very well, so I just went with what I wanted on the water. I hope to get some better reference photographs when the sun comes out and it warms up in Dallas. More koi paintings in the future. Today I will hit the studio with some new blank canvas....hoping that my brushes are kind to me. Have a good Monday! Thanks for viewing this blog!

Koi at Dallas Arboretum by Kay Wyne

Arboretum Koi Oil on 18" x 18" Gallery Wrap Canvas This painting is probably going to be at the Arboretum Garden Gallery. It was my second koi painting, and I was very nervous about the green. Since I tend to "over-paint" on green, I was very careful not to get green paint on the fish. The water at the Koi Pond in the Arboretum was very green, even though my eye wanted to paint blue.
