Akecheta, a Native American Indian Warrior by Sandra Reeves Cutrer

Akecheta, means "fighter" or "warrior" in the great Sioux language. I enjoy painting portraits of Native American Indians, especially moved to capture, with paint, the heart and soul from their expressive eyes. I feel blessed to have Cherokee- Choctaw blood running through my veins, and am always intrigued with the stories and lives of these wonderful native people. Navajo Daydreams 16x20 Oil on canvas Mark Malone

I painted 3 triptychs that I titled Navajo Daydreams. This piece is one of the second series. I used lots of impasto and a palette knife and many of my favorite"southwestern" colors. These pieces can be found at the Dutch Art Gallery, here in Dallas.

Proud on the Prairie, by Sharon Hodges, 54x48

My goal here was to show the proud native American Indian woman rising from the prairie...ok, so I got really carried away with all the textures and the layers of paint...if you don't believe me, look at this painting on my new website and use the zoom feature. I do love lots of paint. The feathers may be my favorite part, just layers and layers of bits of color. And I love the strong features of this figure. Painting faces is always challenging , but I am pleased with this one's expressive bearing...I'm going to keep working on this series. This painting is large, it stretched to 54x48, on gallery stretchers. Please contact me if you have interest in this work, and thanks for looking!

Counting the Herd - Debbie Grayson Lincoln

12 X 16 oil on linen $275 Includes Shipping and Insurance This brave counts the number of bison in the herd, and his heart is heavy with the obvious news that their numbers are declining. For years his people have depended upon the bison for survival, killing only what is needed, leaving the rest. Every part of the animal is used - nothing is wasted. Without them, their way of life is threatened; their very existence is in peril. So understandably the brave is worried. He does not know what the future holds, but a future without the bison is bleak. Click here to send me an email
