"Called To Praise" (Autumn) by Kyle Wood 5" x 6" Oil on Canvas Paper Here is the second version of "Called To Praise."  I had so much fun painting the first one, that I decided to paint another one in a different season.  This one was painted in softer, more diffused light than the first one.  The skies in Autumn can offer quite a variety, from rich Cobalt Blue skies to the cloudy and misty look.  I have decided to paint a series of this church and perhaps other churches, to experiment with mood, light, atmosphere and color.  I am finding that the small format is working the best in terms of productivity and getting the compositions worked out before finalizing them into a larger painting.  More to come. “Autumn Gems” ©2012 Niki Gulley 36” x 60” textured oil painting on wrap around canvas I wanted this painting to be about the power and energy in nature to invigorate your spirit, so I chose to use warm vivid colors and thick staccato strokes to add to that feeling. I placed the foliage in diagonal sweeping shapes to create a sense of movement, and so that you can feel the wind gently rustling the leaves and causing them to dance. E-mail Niki Gulley for more information on her textured oil paintings of aspen and birch trees. Or, to see more of her work, visit  NikiGulley.com .
