New "Rhythmic Memories" Textured Oil Painting by Niki Gulley

"Rhythmic Memories"   ©2018 Niki Gulley 12" x 16" textured oil painting, framed in espresso Painted on location at the beach, I loved our view of the ocean off this wooden deck. Relaxing in the rocking chairs while enjoying the gentle swaying motion, listening to the surf lap against the shore and the repetive uprights of the rails with the light raking through the openings created a rhythm all around. I hope you, too, can feel your cares drift away when you gaze into this peaceful scene! To see more of my palette knife contemporary landscape paintings, visit  nikigulley.com . New Seascape Palette Knife Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

SOLD •  16" x 20" textured oil painting   ©2018 Niki Gulley I was asked to create a custom painting for my long time collector's bedroom that would harmonize with the colors of her room, coordinate with the other four paintings she'd collected from me, and include a water feature. Having just come back from Ireland, I knew exactly what to paint. I was mesmerized by the waves hitting the beach on the Dingle Peninsula. The cathartic sounds of the ocean, the smell of sea water, the craggy rock formations surrounding the cove and the peacefulness of that moment, were what I set out to capture in this special painting. Adult Art Classes with Niki Gulley

“Rhythmic Waters VI” ©2010 Niki Gulley 12” x 12” oil on canvas I created this ocean scene with palette knife and extremely thick oil paint to achieve texture and suggest the energy found in nature. I wanted to capture that magical moment when the sun sets near the horizon and casts it’s sparkling glow over the ocean’s surface while illuminating the sky. The image is painted around the sides of the 1.5 inch deep gallery wrap canvas so that it looks three-dimensional and can be hung as is without a frame for a contemporary look. These chunky ocean paintings look great in pairs, threes and fours. To see my “Rhythmic Waters” series in person, stop by my booth at the Art Street Green Bay art show this weekend in Green Bay, WI. For more information on the show, go to artseventsinc.com/artstreet . If you'd like to learn how to create loose, vibrant paintings join us this fall in my Adult Art Classes in Dallas. Registration is open and classes fill up quickly, so visit NikiGulley.com Or...

Rhythmic Waters oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Rhythmic Waters V” ©2010 Niki Gulley 12” x 12” oil on canvas I created this ocean scene with palette knife and extremely thick oil paint to achieve texture and suggest the energy found in nature. Turquoise Vortex oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Turquoise Vortex” ©2010 Niki Gulley 30” x 30” • oil on canvas Growing up in Chicago, our brutally cold winters would feel like they lasted forever so my family tried to vacation along our tropical coasts whenever possible. I loved this week we spent together – the cathartic rhythm of the ocean waves lapping against the shore as dad and I tried to ride each crest as close to the beach as possible, feeling the cool sand squish between my toes and fingers while building sand castles together, and enjoying the peacefulness at sunset as the gorgeous fireball dropped down from the sky and cast diamond-like reflections across the ocean’s surface. Turquoise Vortex recreates that magical moment as the sun starts to descend and illuminate the water’s peaks and makes everything sparkle. Using a circular composition and bold colors enhances that feeling of motion and rhythm while suggesting the awesome energy and power found in nature. If you’d like to learn how to paint landscapes or “loosen up”...

Ocean study oil painting by Niki Gulley

Ocean Study oil painting by Niki Gulley • 5" x 7" This ocean study was inspired by the fascinating karst rock formations and gorgeous turquoise waters that we saw on our trip to the Phuket area of Thailand. It was created with thick oil paint and palette knives. Visit my website at NikiGulley.com Or e-mail me for more information at Niki@NikiGulley.com.

"Rejuvenation" oil painting by Niki Gulley

"Rejuvenation" ©2010 Niki Gulley 36" x 60" oil on canvas I wanted this painting to be more about the power of water to uplift your spirits than to be a painting of just another pretty ocean sunset. I was hoping you could feel the ocean tides lapping on the shore and hear the rhythmic, soothing sounds of the waves cresting and falling. Whenever I visit the seashore I always feel rejuvenated, and I hope I've translated that onto the canvas for you to experience it, too. I'll be showing this painting and several others at the Bonita Springs National Art Festival in Florida this weekend. If you're fortunate enough to be in the Naples / Bonita Springs area, come on by and say hi, artinusa.com/bonita/ .
