"Embrace" ©2018 Niki Gulley SOLD •  textured oil painting • 36" x 36" on wrap around canvas Just Sold!  I like to play with blurring the lines between realism and abstraction so that some things are left up to the viewer’s imagination. In the case of “Embrace,” I chose this unusual, asymmetrical heart-shaped composition and teased your eye with foreground and background emerging and disappearing to create a more abstract scene. Choosing fiery reds contrasted against turquoise blues cause the colors to dance and vibrate. While diagonal strokes and a circular composition combined with the vibrant hues, create a sense of energy, movement and harmony. Using all of these elements, I wanted to create an uplifting, whimsical, passionate painting filled with youthful hope and discovery. "Autumn Crescendo" ©2014 Niki Gulley • SOLD 36" x 60" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas I wanted this painting to be about the power and energy in nature to invigorate your spirit more so than an exact replica of the forest, so I chose to use warm vivid colors and thick staccato strokes to add to that feeling. I placed the foliage in diagonal sweeping shapes to create a sense of movement, so that you can feel the wind gently rustling the leaves and causing them to dance. To see more of my contemporary landscape paintings, please visit  nikigulley.com. For more information on palette knife birch and aspen tree paintings, please e-mail  Niki Gulley.

"Symphony of Colors" ©2013 Niki Gulley 36" x 60" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas Just Sold and now hanging in the art collection at Prime Lending in north Dallas! Shimmering colors of autumn: Aspen and Oak trees quiver, their light graceful leaves tremble and quake, silver and gold, scarlet and tangerine, with each light breeze. There is the quiet energy of change coming and vibrant color charges the woods. Crisp fall mountain air, a band of slender straight trunks cut bright strokes of white against a dazzling tumble of amber and crimson. Staccato strokes and shimmering hues add to the feeling of change in the air and suggest the wind whistling through the foliage. Covered In Color 48" x 72" Oil on Heavy Duty Canvas This palette knife painting sold yesterday in Santa Fe.  I am happy that this painting will be traveling to a new home in Chicago.  The vibrant oils were layered on with the palette knife, giving it texture.  Thanks for viewing....I have four new paintings on the easels at the studio....maybe I will finish up at least one of them today.  Kay

Be With Me Today 6" x 6" Oil on Cotton Raymar Panel Contemporary abstract palette knife painting. Original oil by Kay Wyne. kay@kwyne.com

A Day Just For You 36" x 60" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas This original oil painting is drying. I focused on the colors, wanting a soft and dreamy look. I believe this is the first time I have painted on this size canvas....it is not huge, and looks great over our sofa in the den. This contemporary abstract would be perfect for an office or home setting. Contact Kay for more information at kay@kwyne.com or 214-532-0325. Thanks for looking at this blog!

Joyful Day Oil on 6" x 6" Panel This little painting is popping with color. It is a detour from my large pieces.....6" x 6" is very small compared to the large canvases that I usually use. It is a fun change, and I have several of these little pieces drying. They are great for gifts, and look wonderful on a small easel. Thanks for viewing, Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com

Lean On Me 24" x 12" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Original Palette Knife Painting This painting is fresh off the easel, ready to find a new home. Please contact Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com for more info. Thanks for viewing! Kay

Colorful Clouds 36" x 18" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Original Palette Knife Painting on Heavy Duty Canvas This medium-size canvas will look great in a room with a long and narrow vertical space. The deep vibrant colors are bouncing around....you can't tell where the clouds start and the landscape ends. The trees and leaves have thick strokes of paint...giving it a lot of texture. Please contact me if you are interested in one of my contemporary aspen paintings. Thanks for viewing this blog. Kay at kay@kwyne.com or 214-532-0325.

Dancing Clouds 48" x 30" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas This painting is finished, signed and drying at the studio. I used some new colors, hoping that the mix of turquoise, cobalt would contrast with the yellows, ochres and oranges. The trees and falling leaves have lots of texture. This painting may be going on a trip....it needs a new home. Please contact me if you are interested in this painting or any of my art that you see on this blog.

You Are My Sunshine 24" x 12" Oil on Canvas This painting was shipped to Colorado yesterday. It would like really nice with a pewter/plein air moulding. I tried framing it in a black moulding and it was too much. Too much contrast between the painting and the frame. I used a different color palette on this painting...much more yellows and greens than normal. Thanks for looking at this blog. Kay

Season of Color 30" x 40" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Here is a vertical format....I usually go with square or horizontal gallery wrap canvases. It is drying above our sofa in the den. It should be ready to ship this week. I hope to get a full day of painting in at the studio today. Have an artful day....Kay

Towering Over Me 20" x 60" Oil on Linen Gallery Wrap Palette Knife Painting This painting is colorful, contemporary and would great on a narrow but wall with a high ceiling. I started using earthy muted tones for the ground up to the horizon line. Then started to throw in some light and more intense colors for the leaves, sky and light ---- all bouncing off the trees. Thanks for looking at this painting.....and this blog. Contact Kay if you have any questions or comments. Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com
