Gun

Gun 16.5 x 22.5 inches Mixed Media Enc Caustic, Plaster Cast, Wooden Frame This is one of the pieces I have finished within the last week.  It is a Plaster Cast Toy Pistol, embedded in an En Caustic back ground, with fabricated wooden frame.  I am fascinated with Barnett Newman's Minimalist color and spacial structure.  Although, it is not a minimalist piece, this was inspired by the color and composition of Newman's work.  It is an attempt to step back and make it simple and pure, yet still playing with the idea of a symbolic nature. Finding simplicity and beauty in something that has duality to be violent, yet also a child's toy, something to have fun with.

Ten Minute Lemons by Sheri Jones

Ten Minute Lemons 11 x14 oil on canvas I set the time for each lemon and stopped after 10 minutes.  Exercises like this teach you to work quickly, observe and record only the essentials.  You should try it sometime, it is a fun exercise.  I did have my paints premixed and ready to go before setting the timer. I did it over the course of several days too. Lemons keep nicely in the fridge. This is available for purchase. $150.00 Sheri@sheriart.net www.sheriart.net www.sheriart.blogspot.com www.cfai.co/sherijones/

Allison 2012 mallisonartist.com,  cfai.co I did a similar painting  featuring a ferris wheel  awhile ago and donated it to a charity auction set up for the victims of the Haite earthquake  through Laura Rathe Gallery.  Donations of my art to philanthropic organizations is how I give back.  I loved this ferris wheel because it denotes fun and whimsy to me.   I named it 'Coney Island', changed it to 'Santa Monica', but since it could really be anywhere, I changed it once again.  I love the title, because isn't that where we all want to be? One Week Left to Register for our Santa Fe Art Trek

"The Blue Door," Santa Fe ©2012 Niki Gulley 12" x 9" pastel Plein Air Painting and Photography Workshop in Santa Fe, NM - Aug. 12-18 Last year on our Santa Fe workshop, one morning we headed to a quiet street in downtown Santa Fe. It was a beautiful day, and we were all drawn to the unique adobe architecture typical in Santa Fe, the soft morning light, and the vibrant color accents on each home. I chose this periwinkle doorway for my quick demo in pastels, both for the striking contrast against the orange pueblo and also because the russian sage everywhere was so beautiful, and added some balance on the left hand side of the composition. We all thoroughly enjoyed the morning, even if a passing homeowner or two were disappointed that we hadn't picked their doorways to paint! Santa Fe is the muse of many famous artists and photographers, and that could be you, too. Join us for our Plein-Air Painting and Photography Workshop Aug. 12-18 in Santa Fe, N...

Daisy Chain Red Gerberas by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Daisy Chain Red Gerberas by Nancy Medina 8X10 Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas Purchase Information Flower Painting Workshops Nancy Medina Web Site Daisy Chain Red Gerberas is a new daily painting in Flower Mound Studio as we count down the moments to the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in London. Seeing the festivities and fireworks around London Bridge on television bring back some wonderful memories from a summer I went to school at King's College, and visited the bridge while it was undergoing renovations. In July, rarely a day went by that we didn't need to wear sweaters or bring rain gear with us on our excursions there. On the one day the sun came out, the London folks started stripping off coats and sweaters and lying about on park benches and in the grass to catch the rays. I don't think I've ever seen a group of people so hungry for the sun. Read more....

FACE No. 82 by Linda Popple

6x6 Oil on Ampersand Gessobord Click   HERE  to bid on this painting. Click  HERE  to view my blog. I returned yesterday from a 10 day vacation in Massachusetts and Maine.  No paints were brought, but I took LOTS of photographs and I am looking forward to going through them.  The northeast is such a beautiful part of our country!   We were fortunate to see the works of some of the artists I have been introduced to through the internet .....  Paige Railsback ,  Nancy Colella ,  Michael Rooney ,  Stanley Bielen , just to mention a few.  What a treat!  Pure eye candy!! This mug shot was painted prior to our trip.  His closed eyes and broken nose attracted me.  He looks as though he has been the loser in many fights.
