"Fall Majesty" Palette Knife Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

"Fall Majesty" ©2018 Niki Gulley SOLD •  16" x 20" textured oil painting  Just sold!  Painted on location during our fall foliage tour, I was drawn to this beautiful mountain overlook with the autumn colors glowing in all of their glory. The brilliant golden aspen leaves contrasted against the cobalt violet hills in the distance, created an excitement and energy. The rainbow of foliage in-between also added to the joy of being surrounded by nature on a perfect October day. *** If you're interested in joining us on one of upcoming Art Treks, please let us know.  Spaces fill up quickly! French Welcome, Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

French Welcome 10x8 oil on ray mar canvas panel Sold We found this beautiful front door while wandering the streets of Arles.  We were in the footsteps of Van Gogh  seeking scenes of some of his famous paintings. They have easels of his paintings in front of the actual scenes that inspired his work. This was another fun adventure with Art Treks. This painting sold thanks to Dutch Art Gallery. Winter Lovebirds, by Melissa A. Torres, 12x24 acrylic and resin on cradled gessobord

This painting has multiple layers of acrylic paint and resin to give it a 3D effect. Resin is quite messy, but once you get the hang of it, it's great to use and gives artwork a glass-like finish. The sides of the piece are left natural and sealed with polyurethane.  To Purchase this piece  click here. To see more of my work, visit:  www.melissaatorresart.com .

"Looking Up II" Aspen Tree painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

“Looking Up II" ©2018 Niki Gulley SOLD  • 24" x 12" textured oil on canvas Just Sold!  In this painting I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up in into the treetops and the heavens above. I chose vibrant, cheerful yellows and golds contrasted against a blue sky with the clouds drifting so that as you gaze overhead, you get the feeling of not having a care in the world. One large trunk in the foreground guides you and gives you a sense of size and perspective, while leading your eye upward. Arranging the aspens in a circular pattern heightened by thick, curving paint strokes, all add to that joyful, playful feeling of hope and discovery.  E-mail  Niki Gulley  for more information on her textured aspen and birch oil paintings.  Visit  NikiGulley.com  to see more of her contemporary impressionistic palette knife landscape paintings.

"Autumn Concerto III" Palette Knife Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

"Autumn Concerto III" ©2018 Niki Gulley SOLD •  12" x16" textured oil painting  Just Sold!  Painted on location, I returned again to capture this beautiful birch grove. This time I pulled in even closer to concentrate on the light and shadows of the crisp, white trunks. Getting in tighter created more of an abstract composition and I could focus on the rhythm and harmony of the shapes of the branches and foliage, while also capturing the beautiful sounds of the leaves rustling to nature's morning symphony. *** If you're interested in joining us on one of upcoming Art Treks, please let us know.  Spaces fill up quickly! "Soaring Dreams II" by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

"Soaring Dreams II" ©2018 Niki Gulley textured oil painting on canvas • 34" x 34" In this painting I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up into the treetops and heavens above. Choosing uplifting golds and reds contrasted against a lavender-blue sky with gentle clouds drifting by, I've arranged the aspens in a circular pattern to give you a sense of laying on the ground, surrounded by the forest. Using diagonal leading lines with the tree trunks and limbs, your eye gazes into the focal point where all of the elements come together. Meanwhile, utilizing thick, curving paint strokes adds to that joyful, playful feeling of hope and discovery. Cool Jive - original ink and crayon figurative drawing of jive dancers

I know, it looks kind of crazy, but sometimes my Itoya Doubleheader and my Sharpie get the best of me - and throw in a Crayola and who knows what can happen!  Well, here's the result - could have made it red, but thought that would have been too much, hence the "cool" in the title - lavender - one of my favorite cool colors instead.  Drawn on 5 x 17" Bristol.   Click here to visit my blog at Hackberry Street Studio.

New "Under the Old Oak Tree" Texas Hill Country Painting by Niki Gulley

"Under the Old Oak Tree," Texas Hill Country  ©2017 Niki Gulley SOLD •  30" x 40" textured oil painting Just Sold through the Good Art Company Gallery!  Inspired by a trip to the hill country, I wanted you to feel the warmth and beauty on this perfect spring day while out for a leisurely drive among the bluebonnets and Texas wildflowers. I was drawn to this stately, gnarly live oak tree perched on a mound of bluebonnets, looking larger than life. The dramatic clouds behind it seemed to all be pointing at it, too, drawing even more attention to its beauty. I wanted to capture that feeling of drama and capture its spirit in my composition. Just Sold - "April's Palette" Texas Bluebonnet Oil Painting by Niki Gulley

"April's Palette"  ©2018 Niki Gulley SOLD  • textured oil painting Just Sold!  Recently we loaded up the car and headed south to visit the Texas Hill Country to see the wildflowers in bloom. While not as prolific as some years, the thick patches we found did not disappoint. It's so exciting to see a massive carpet of blue across our usually green hills, and I love how the bluebonnets signal that spring has arrived! After delivering new art to my gallery, The Good Art Company, in Fredericksburg we ventured north to the Willow City Loop to take in the breathtaking vistas and plethora of wildflowers that normally fill the landscape there. I was drawn to this abundant bluebonnet and wildflower patch contrasted against the dark tree trunk tangle in the background. Erecting my easel along the roadside, I set out to capture this colorful view, full of texture, energy and uplifting spring hues. For information on my Texas bluebonnet and wildflower series and  ...

Jivin' Up a Storm - original figurative oil painting of jive dancers

The little jivers are still at it - they keep coming back to show me what they can do and I love it!  This one is painted on 8 x 8" cradled panel.  I was a little looser this time, especially with the background and had a lot of fun with it.  We're gearing up for the rodeo here in Junction, Texas - the yearly event where I get lots of sketches and photos that I use for my artwork.  And this time, it's not supposed to be so extremely hot, and may actually rain (well, I'll believe it when I see it) which doesn't happen much around here.  To see more of my artwork, click here to visit my blog at Hackberry Street Studio.
