Low River Color  24x18 oil on canvas This was inspired from a painting I did on location in Benbrook, Texas. This meandering river is the overflow from the dam at Benbrook Lake.  I loved the warm color of the grasses that lined the river and the distant views.  I painted this with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.  Sunflower Friday, 12145 14x11 Oil still life on canvas board For Sale on my gallery HERE. Was it only last Friday that I was in the Winter Flowers in Oil workshop with Nancy Medina? I felt so much lighter then. In fact after eating dressing, pecan and chocolate pie and tastes of candy, etc. I dreamed last night as a lady was weighing me she said "You don't look like you weight 300 pounds!".  Here we are, Nancy and Nancy (our lighter selves) pre-Thanksgiving photo.Those are her florals behind us, not mine..(wish) I'm the one in red sitting close so maybe some of that painting knowledge will rub off. Heightened Awareness III ©2012 Niki Gulley 48" x 36" • Textured mixed media on canvas In this painting I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up in into the treetops and the heavens above. I chose vibrant, cheerful yellows contrasted against a violet blue sky filled with big, puffy clouds. And, by arranging the aspens in a circular pattern heightened by thick, curving paint strokes, that joyful, playful feeling of hope and discovery are enhanced.
