"Painted Forest" ©2021 Niki Gulley 18" x 24" textured mixed media painting  on 1.5" wrap around canvas with the painting continuing around the edges I loved this brilliant aspen forest with its bright white aspen trunks slicing through all of the vibrant red and yellow foliage. The patterns of the trees created a sort of rhythm and I focused on the placement of the ivory sentinels, the diagonal purple shadows that they cast and the rustling of the leaves to add to that musical feeling. I hope you, too, can sense the energy and joy of being surrounded by nature as autumn is in full swing.                                                                         Calm Morning 7x14 oil on canvas I painted this after I took a long kayak ride. It was a peaceful morning with no boat traffic and no wind. By the time I crossed the lake and got to this spot, a storm blew in. It was a challenging ride home, but I made it before the rains and strong winds.   To purchase or see more http://www.sherijonesart.com Sheri@sherijonesart.com http://www.sheriart.blogspot.com.    "Woodland Adventure" ©2021 Niki Gulley 18" x 24"" textured oil painting on board I find being immersed in nature can have such an uplifting effect, and I wanted to share that feeling with you in Woodland Adventure. I chose pure, intense reds and yellows contrasted against autumn greens to create a fall forest that vibrates with color and energy.  I placed the vivid foliage in diagonal sweeping shapes to create a sense of movement, so that you can feel the wind gently rustling the leaves and causing them to dance on a beautiful fall day.       “Sweeping Vista" ©2021 Niki Gulley 24” x 48" textured mixed media painting  on 1.5" wrap around canvas with the painting continuing around the edges Inspired by a recent trip, we were greeted by this gorgeous view of the rolling landscape. The sun was setting in the distance casting its golden glow and backlighting the wildflowers and fall foliage. I just had to capture that magical moment! Rhythmic waves in the sky and along the hillsides create a harmonious scene that flows with light, texture and color.      "Three's Company" ©2021 Niki Gulley 20" x 16" textured oil painting on canvas panel This summer we visited Santa Fe and to escape the heat we ventured up the Santo de Cristo mountains to cool down amongst the beautiful, refreshing aspen trees. In this painting I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up in into the treetops and the heavens above. Choosing calming greens against a lavender-blue peaceful sky and arranging the aspens so that they meet in the middle, suggests a feeling of togetherness. While organizing the outlying trees and mesmerizing clouds in a circular pattern and using thick, curving brushstrokes, creates a joyful, playful mood.
