Studio setup for Citrus Sensation - Zinnias

Sometimes it is fun to take whatever is at hand and paint it - I chose zinnias because they were the only flower in the studio yesterday - can you tell they are artificial? shhh. It will be our little secret.

With a few lemons and a little green bowl, I set up my study and kept at bay those comments I have heard from artist mentors before, how hard zinnias are to paint. The lemons, those were real. I'll be squeezing them into a big glass of iced tea here shortly as I try to figure out what needs to be painted next.

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
