"Vendimia"

Grapes-a symbol of life, immortality, harvest, a time of joy. The palomino grape is used for making "fino" and "amontillado" (sherry wine). It is not just a white grape, but goes through many color changes as it ripens on the vine.
Vendimia is another way of saying "white grape harvest"...While on a tour through a vineyard, I spied this beautiful cluster of grapes, with the sun peeking through the leaves. I wanted to share the moment with you. Beautiful, isn't it?

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

  CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.

 I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
