Small Gifts, Poppies, is a new oil painting drying on the easel this evening in Flower Mound Studio. Tonight I have four assistants in the studio, with a new foster pug, Tanner, snoring at my feet after an exhausting day. This little fellow has spent all six of his years in a cage in Oklahoma, and is luxuriating in his newfound freedom.

I am not rich, so I cannot give millions to animal rescue. I work a full time job, so I cannot give all my time to pug rescue. But I have a few hours a week I can contribute. I hope that if you have a heart filled with love for animals, you can find a way to share, even if it is a small gift, for your favorite animal rescue. You can see Tanner's story in the video link below, and the day last week when four of our volunteers rescued 14 pugs from a puppy mill. All of these little ones will go to furever family homes now, and receive the care and love they deserve. You can see photos and a video of Tanner's rescue on my art blog.

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
