Beyond the Pale Purple Iris is the latest work in Flower Mound Studio, as two new four foot container garden flower paintings dry strategically in front of heaters. These paintings need to ship to Coronado, California, on Monday so they can arrive in plenty of time for my annual solo show at Art and Frames by Wood Gallery on April 16.

If you are in Southern California, please join me April 16. I'll be painting in the garden of the oldest gallery on the island, which is a quick trip from San Diego. If we are lucky, the monarch butterflies will join us again this year! The gallery is one of the loveliest spots on Orange Avenue, and just a few doors down from the Starbucks, so you'll be there anyway for your favorite capuccino! This is one of my favorite places to visit, cottage gardens and flowers everywhere in perfect year-round sunshine. Rest assured my Canon will be fully charged before I arrive, since I'll be snapping hundreds of new photos. I promise to share the trip with you with a photo tour if you are not able to join me in person.

The Old Mill Study, Barbara Haviland

#mill,#water,#building,#11x14,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com This painting was part of a study.  We had the photo and I painted it then watched the demo. I always do that.  I like to change my painting up a bit. It is painted on a hardboard panel that has canvas adhered to it.  I have used this method for years. I don't care for the spring of a stretched canvas.  Thanks for viewing my art ~~Barbara Available  GALLERY INFO Barbara Haviland Fine Art 1579 County Road 1010 Woodville, Texas 75979 409-332-0141 Website

Central Fire Station Lake Charles, La Barbara Haviland

CENTRAL FIRE STATION LAKE CHARLES, LA #CentralFireStation,#HIstoric,#Building,#BarbaraHavilandFineArt.com Central Fire Station  no longer exists in  Lake Charles, La.  I had some old photos that I used to paint this painting.   24"x40"  and it is signed and framed, but you must come pick it up. I was told that the station burned down and they built another.
I haven’t posted here in a long time, partly because my artistic endeavors have taken a turn toward quilting instead of painting.   But this quilt started as a painting which I had printed on fabric and then turned it into a quilt.  So maybe I can slip it into the blog!  If you are interested in seeing more, let me know!
