"Hill Country Beckoning" by Kyle Wood

"Hill Country Beckoning" - 18" x 24" Oil on Canvas

I titled this painting "Hill Country Beckoning" because I am so drawn to the Texas Hill Country. The area is full of lush live oak trees and jaw dropping views of steep terrain. Springtime is probably my favorite time of the year because it is annual call of the Texas Bluebonnet and other wildflowers. In a good year, when moisture is plentiful, some of the fields are literally saturated with pigments of blue, red, orange, pink, and yellow to name a few. It almost like someone took a paintbrush or a bucket of paint and spilled it all over the place. Typically, when painting bluebonnet scenes, I strive to mix in other colors that will compliment with the bluish-purple hue of the Texas Bluebonnet. Also, adding dead grasses, other flora like yuccas and prickly pear cactus that are very indigenous to this region of Texas typically help bring the painting to life.
